Well, I love the quality of their translations and their typesetting. Their subs are some of the best-translated and most beautiful I've ever seen. Major props to the TV-N crew for that.

I beg to differ. Their translations aren't bad, far from that, but there are some typical textbook mistakes in it.Case in point:

I've just seen Magi ep6 from them (downloaded by accident, I was looking for a RAW). Things like "the magician of the red" is not only grammatically incorrect English, but also a poor translation. I know why they put it like this: 'aka' is a noun, 'no' is a particle that indicates it modifies (NOT always that is belongs to) the next noun and 'mahoutsukai' is magician. What they seem to ignore is that for colors, Japanese use both constructions equally:
- "akai kuruma"
- "aka no kuruma"
Both mean the exact same thing, namely a 'red car' and not in the second case a 'car from the red'.

I don't know what's worse: the fact that they make these mistakes or the fact that they are too arrogant to admit that they too can make mistakes and there are other people in the world with a sufficient knowledge of Japanese and English to correct them?

However, as for their personalities, that's a different story. Most of them are good people, except for KingRanger--to say that he's a horrible person would be a vast understatement.

Agreed! I honestly admire TVN as a whole. It's amazing how much time they spend to do things for others without asking anything in return. I wouldn't be able to do it! Congratz to them for that.

The fact remains though that some of them have serious personality issues, most KR. If telling them that there are flaws in their subs is enough reason for him to ban me, fine, be my guest. The mere fact that I said that I prefer RAW to sub was enough for him to start bashing on me. I think I have the right to like what I want to like, no?

I had a lot of respect for Cyberdramon, until he went and said a thing like "just keep watching our subs and read our translation notes. You might actually learn something about a culture in which you do not exist".
That kind of insult is over the top for me. About the things I made comments about, at least it's things I've seen (like their magi ep6 sub). But where does he get off to say that I don't exist? I have a fulltime job, I do my best to get along with neighbors and friends, I have a social life, I try to give something to the community (free translations, free language classes to little children), I'm planning to ask my g/f to marry me ... and I don't exist? Quite a harsh statement coming from someone who doesn't know the first thing about me!

I tried to explain myself and reason to them at their IRC channel, but all KR did was insult, insult, blame, blame followed by a ban. Seriously, I've given up on them, I have better things to do than that ...

I'm more of an "I don't Love or Hate TV Nihon" type person, but it's pretty normal for a website to have good work but a lack of personality!!! :laugh:

Also I joined TV Nihon's forum, but I rarely post there!!

I am forever in debt to Nihon because it was their fansubbing that allowed me to watch the stuff which really set off my loving for Tokusatsu.

I don't know any of the guys so I can't comment on that aspect of things.

Hmmm....this is the kinda ass licking thread I'd expect to be started at TV-Nihon's forum. They expect that 24/7 cos they're bastards but excellent subbers. Yeah, like I explained to I_Legend over MSN, I tend to not get invloved on their forums with their staff cos I know how much of a cock KingRanger is, I just download their projects and enjoy them. I think to myself "Wow, that was a great sub I could never do a sub like that" instead of thinking "Wow, I can't people such a Kage humper like KingRanger could create a sub like that. Wow, looks like there IS a use for retarded Gayge lovers on this planet." :laugh: }

BTW, I do NOT mean the second statement so don't get any ideas to bash me, k? It was just an example of something that I wouldn't think. I'm finally doing what JC asks of me and not caring what cock members such as KR and PA do, just let them stick to their business, and we stick to ours. XD

I really don't care anymore, I mean...You're getting a free subbed show that you probably wouldn't have access to anywhere else. Now we aren't really in any position to complain, are we? If they get annoying, just deal with it, sure I think they could use better PR skills...But that's more of a personal thing on how I think stuff should be run.

I'm not them, so I don't really have the right to say they should change when they give us all this free toku.

Mmmmm....I do love Tv-Nihon for Ryuki and that's it. They were bastards to Mishicorp and I got my first RAW and subbed episode (Stage 01) from them. Damn Tv-Nihon and they're inability to have a little competition! I also started watching Galaxy Force from WPP but they stopped after episode 3 then I heard Tv-Nihon were continuing the project. YAY!

They can stop subbing for all I care, I don't want their subs to get in the way of my viewing pleasure anyway, so ...

I didn't say that, but when people be just as bitchy back to them...Of course it's going to continue. I get along fine with the RAWs so I don't have to deal with it really. And there others...Just stop posting on their boards and ignore them.
