The Official Comic Book Discussion Thread

Get Crisis on Infinate Earths, great read, a liuttle confusing in spots but a great read none the less.

I haven't read this yet. I might will order the book but first if they have it at my work, I'll get that graphic novel.

Its also a good idea to read if you want to read Infinite Crisis. Oh. Here's a new question for this thread....

How many of you still have a comic shop in your area?

I haven't. Lost mine when I was in the 10th grade. (I've almost graduated now.) We kept losing it and getting them back. I think when we lost the last one, that was the death knell. Still, it wasn't as cool as the original. Man, I can still remember when I was young, and walked into that HUGE store, looking at all those comics and posters and models and....I don't think there's been a store since to make such a huge impression on me. Plus, comics were never written better than when I was a kid. (The same should be true for any comic fan.) I mean you had Kurt Busiek and George Perez on Avengers (still the best Avengers team I've ever seen), Kurt and Sean Chen on Iron Man (man those guys drew the most iconic Iron Man to me...that first "Heroes Return" design? Fan-fucking-tastic), Grant Morrison and Howard Porter doing JLA (definitive JLA run--if you haven't read it you need to), and the rotating team doing Adventures of the DC Universe (think the DCAU in comic form...realized in my eyes by the creation of the JLU, though I'd still like to see a cartoon named that one day). All of that is why I'm totally addicted to comics, even to this day.

Brian K. Vaughn is my new Garth Ennis. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a comic book writer this much.

I just picked up Runaways after finishing up the TPB's of Y the Last man and Ex Machina and only a few pages in and I'm already in love.

ESPECIALLY with this lead black character who neither gangsta talkin', the braiac or some angry youth.

He's....... he's just your average kid...... I think I'm gonna cry. :anime:

Ferkin' beautiful. LOVED the opening with the MMORPG. Captured how people talk on the internets in just a few lines.

I got the first two volumes and it's a breath of fresh air.

Did anyone else pick up IC #5 yesterday?

I just had to go OMG! like fifty million times.

That, and the Batman annual...

Whoo, what a week.

I picked up the Runaways graphic novel manga thingy at Wondercon, AWESOME story. I need to pick up more of those.

My fav writer is still, and always will be, Peter David, though. Young Justice was the best comic series I've ever read, and the stuff he's doing with X-factor now is awesome.

Now that's it's finished downloading, I'm reading Marvel's Age of Apolypse. And DAMN there are a lot of books!!
