The Guyver & Guyver: Dark Hero

Forever Knight

Eye See You
Finally was able to get both movies after hearing about 'em awhile back. Checking the 1st movie out tonight.

What did you guys think about both flicks?.

Pretty good. The latest animated series was pretty good as well. It's just too bad that all the Guyver animated series pretty much stop at the same point in the story :(

I didn't like the schizophrenic tone of the first movie. There's still some humor in Dark Hero, but it's a lot more in pace with the rest of the film. I enjoyed both, but I have to give the edge to Solid Snake.

The first does have Jeffrey Combs in a funny cameo, though.

Movie #1 - Is it wrong for me to love Tokusatsu but completey vomit at The Guyver movie?. There is good cheesy and then there is bad cheesy. I think it was the acting that was the real issue.

Check out the anime in all of it's badassery!!!! :castlerock:

I think you'll have no problem loving Guyver 3. Guyver 3 just seems to be right up your alley, he's all dark colored and spikey. Check out both of the 12 part OVA, and the recent 26 episode series. Both are good in their own right, but the recent series is soooooo good. Expands a lot further into the manga, and because of that, you get Guyver Gigantic in it's amazingness. And if you can find it, which I'm pretty sure it's up on Youtube, check out Guver: Out of Control. It's a retelling of the first two episodes, but without Tetsuro, and then it expands upon itself, plus it has a female Guyver 2, but you have to watch it subbed, which I'm sure you'll have no problem with.

Y'know, it's kinda funny but not too long ago a group of friends and myself marathoned these two things movies back-to-back and while I personally enjoy both of them, we came to the conclusion that we had liked watching the first movie better.

The first is wacky, campy, silly and all that jazz, and if you can't get over that fact, it's not going to be fun at all. However, the second movie suffers from the opposite problem. It is far more dry than it needs to be and the plot has this tendency to drag on far longer than it needs to between its action set pieces.

Also, as a personal taste issue, I preferred the silver coloration of the Guyver suit in the first movie to the very powder blue color of the second. (Yes, I know the blue color is his original color from the anime, but what works in animation doesn't always work in live action.)
