It just boils down to child abuse and neglect. It'll be very difficult to enforce genderless life style and borders upon impossible because once that spawn pees or it's breasts pop out , especially the former, it's counter-productive and in fact bars the child from exploring themselves ,especially if they want to be a full blown man or woman in the traditional sense. In general ,these parents are providing a bad environment for the child and it should be given to foster care just like those children from the Westboro Church and that "20 Kids and counting" show.

You don't have to raise your child genderless in order to raise your child to defy stereotypes and break barriers.

It upsets me that these parents are raising their child based on a work of fiction that sounds eerily like Scientology. I don't agree that children should be raised based on tenets of ANY book that could be dangerous to the child him/herself and be let to decide for themselves and given knowledge of ALTERNATE beliefs so they can fully live their own lives as they see fit within the constraints of being a child and the law . Sure , in some way ,i'd want my child to share beliefs with me , but in another sense , I was raised in a very narrow-minded atmosphere when I brought up evolution , it caused a HUGE argument and I want my children to be raised in an atmosphere opposite of that. If that's called intolerant , you do not know the meaning of the word.

Take into mind that criticizing parents for a genuine reason as this is not intolerant as I could care less. In fact ,it's just showing concern as a community of the world towards what could potentially mess up a child permanently like how that woman who gave botox to her 8 year old daughter.

Intolerance is killing ,discriminating or belittling another human or group of people based on their lifestyles , bodily/facial features and or skin color. Blowing up schools for women in Afghanistan is intolerant, the overt racism in the media is intolerant , homophobia is intolerant, forcing your children to believe in a narrow mindset and persecuting otherwise is intolerant and I can go on. I can go on with the various persecutions of Religions around the world and more , but it'd be a waste for your intolerant mind.

What? You are being intolerant. You are not being tolerant towards their actions. You disagree with them and claiming what they are doing is child abuse, despite having no evidence to support such a horrible claim. You are reacting based solely on your own beliefs and assumptions, all the while condemning these people because you believe your views are superior. That is intolerance, and if you can't see that than I feel sorry for you.

Plus honestly I don't think you understand what they are doing. They aren't trying to raise the child as if it had no sex, which would be impossible. Gender doesn't exist, it is social construct. At this stage all they are doing is not giving the child stereotypical items. As the child grows older it will become harder to continue a genderless environment, but it is still manageable and possible. Further more from the parents viewpoint it is the exact opposite of what you are claiming, it is all about allowing the child explore who they are. When you rigidly enforce concepts of gender it greatly restricts what a person can do. I bet nearly everyone here has an interest or two that goes against their gender. Hell if any woman here wears pants that goes against traditional gender roles.

Parenting styles are something you can either agree or disagree with. I don't believe these people are abusing their children, but at the same time I cannot agree with what they are doing because I believe using children in some social experiment is wrong, and getting attention for it is also wrong. Then there are other things I previously mentioned, such as letting their children make choices before they are even old enough to understand the consequences of said choices.

That being said, I also understand that it's THEIR children and they'll raise them however they want.

That rational only goes so far. I mean some parents think that not getting medical care for their kids is good parenting. Some parents think beating their kids is good parenting.

I know, but as far as I can tell, they haven't done anything yet that is physically harmful to their children.

Whether or not this will be mentally harmful remains to be seen. Since they let their children decide whether they want to attend school or not, I don't really have any doubt in my mind that it is.

So what? They obviously don't give a **** in the long run of their child's mental well being. And how could you possibly raise a genderless child with the media, hormones making girls burst out boobs at an earlier age ,and the fact that once that child gets of age (assuming the parents didn't give it sex ed. ) , it''ll have a hard time controlling the instinctual urges it was born with. And while gender might be a social construct , it has basis in the layout of the x and y chromosome at its most basic level, though with the recent within a 50 year radius shows people born with both sex organs and might appear their gender but actually are the opposite naturally. And what are they going to do if I'm not mistaken? Cut off the tits and or the sack if applicable ?

I'm not saying my views are superior in the slightest , or I would have mentioned that in the post you oh so quoted. Don't put words into my mouth please as it takes your credibility away. I clearly said I don't give a **** if they raise their kids as a chimp or if they raise them to be a jungle man, but my concern is for the children to be raised in a realistic setting. What I mean by it is to not ignore any of those gender or other issues like that and just inform their child on it and not leave them in the dark. It's not stereotypical to call a child either gender , it's the unbalanced treatment or discrimination of the genders that is at fault. It's exactly like racism in the sense that labels and stereotypes might lend themselves to particular gender, but isn't that the child's and parents' responsibility to defy and overcome those labels and barriers?

If any of those Civil Rights Leaders ever waited , or if any of those other famous people in history apart of minority groups waited for it, society would never progress. Granted , people apart of the majority of the dominant society need to help positively more by just a smidge since our society is becoming gradually more accepting of changes and it would be alot quicker if the old people and those who hold their beliefs just croaked and left us to make the world a better place.

And why can't a child explore with a gender? Are gendered children the ones you hate? If there are more out there like you that hated the genders, than I guess there is now the need to save the genders like the gingers:

In fact , I love people who go against gender roles as I went against mine a long time ago ( hated football ,but loved soccer and baseball , Sailor Moon and other female led animes, maybe possibly liking anime) and find those people easier to approach than ones that are. It's not to say that I don't have friends that are interested in gender-specific things , but largely the ideology of the people who go against them often match with mine.

First you do hold your views to be superior, otherwise you wouldn't have them. Everyone believes their views are correct, thus superior, or else they wouldn't have them. It's normal but when you have no evidence to support any of your claims you run into problems.

Second there is no evidence in the article that they are controlling any aspect of the child's choices or development. Gender is stereotype, it classifies everyone on the planet into two groups based on sexual organs. What these parents are doing is trying to create an environment where the child can freely choose how it interacts with the world. They aren't forcing the child to conform to some androgynous standard. Chances are that the child will no doubt lean to either masculine or feminine, all the parents are trying to do is allow for an environment where it can form it's own conclusion.
