The Average HJU Poster

Yes.

If you wanna be an elitist, whatever, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a tokusatsu. Or better yet, I can point out a ton of reasons it is one, can you point out any it isn't?

Be about right according to a lot of Japanese people.

First off, it's Wiki dude...ya' gotta do better than that (that page does nothing to help your argument regardless...) Second, name calling...? Always a sign of someone with integrity.

As I said previously, it's a Japanese term that is never used by the general public to describe live action shows in the states. They are just "live action", that's it. You can't really argue that fact. Once Power Rangers stars a full Japanese cast and features all Japanese dialogue, maybe then I'll accept it as a Toku...

Yeah but we're a bunch of geeks so we get to use our own vernacular the way we want to.

Don't rain on our parade.

Nice! 29 tabletop gamers so far! :buttrock:

And man, even after Metal Symphony's explanation, I still don't know what Showa and Heisei are. I thought they referred to the modern emperors of Japan. :sly:

What's wrong with Wikipedia? Aside from the "lol, anyone can edit it"? That's what makes it such a versatile tool. And if you don't trust Wikipedia, then know that most articles do have a ton of references for the information. Or if you didn't even bother to, try actually reading the article, there's nothing in there shows it's a poorly constructed piece of information.

Where has it ever been said that tokusatsu is reserved for Japanese productions? Like, can you give me a source that says it's only attached to Japanese productions? There are no connotations to that in the word itself. Tokusatsu in general isn't well known in America, but that doesn't make the application of the term any less valid. A general equivalent would likely be science fiction or something along the lines of that. If the Japanese can consider stuff like Star Trek and Doctor Who tokusatsu, there's nothing wrong with Power Rangers being considered one, especially when they do film a lot of their own original suit footage. Heck, even the Japanese Wikipedia lists it as one.

They do. It's essentially akin to how people refer to something as the "fall TV season" or "summer TV season" anything made after 1989 (I forget the exact date) is considered Heisei and anything after 1926 to around 1988 is considered Shouwa.

"Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater"

That's what it says when I googled it anyways..

MS: It doesn't go by percentiles ._. unless you're using another one? Are you saying that your BMI is 48?
Google says: "Morbid obesity—a BMI of 40 or more"

A graph of body mass index is shown above. The dashed lines represent subdivisions within a major class. For instance the "Underweight" classification is further divided into "severe", "moderate", and "mild" subclasses.
Based on World Health Organization data

I'm like.. smack dab in the middle of average at 4'11" lol..

WTF?! I'm almost underweight since I'm around 1.8 meters in height and 143 lbs. :shakefist

Ah! That actually makes sense. Thank you!

Just completed the survey. Pretty interesting results. and yes, we neeeeed an HJU convention. I fully support this.

Oh and Power Rangers can definitely be considered Tokusatsu. Its a live action special effects show so under that definition, it applies. Should be this big of a deal.
