That 80's Thread

Hmm, I was a very young kid back then, so I very vaguely remember much, but here's just a list of things I like of the 80's..

Tokusatsu (who said Power Rangers never existed in the 80's? )
Kamen Rider Black
Kamen Rider Black RX
Flashman
Liveman
Bioman
Uchuu Keiji Gavan

Cartoons/Kids shows
CareBears
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Thundercats
Timmy Mallet on Wackaday (if anybody's hard of him)
The Snorks
The Snowman (that was a Christmas special)
Art Attack (back in the days when Neil Buchanan still had that hair)

Video Games
Long before there was PS360/Grand Theft Auto, there were games like Pacman, Space Invaders, etc.. and the graphics were like bright, colourful, blocky graphics, and beepy music. Personal favorite right now is Alex Kidd in Miracle World on the Sega Master System.

Music
Long before Michael Jackson turned himself white and got into trouble with the police for various things such as child molesting etc, he did some really awesome songs such as Thriller, Just Beat It, and so on. MC Skatcat, variuous pop music that right now I can't think of (too much to list), even some JPop from the 80's are awesome, such as Onyanko Club.

Other Stuff
Stupid Hairdos and daft clothes
Waking up in the morning to cheesy morning shows
TV Commercials (yes, even the commercials were awesome back then)
Alf
Bill and Ted

And for now that's all I can think of.

I was young back then, but from what I remember: cartoons in general. Especially Ghostbusters. Speaking of ghostbusters, I got a tape of some episodes around my house somewhere.

Hey! I watched Jem too. It was kinda entertaining.:confused2

Anyways, I miss good rap artists that actually say something when they rap. (Ex. Run-DMC, NWA, Public Enemy).

And I miss quality cartoons like The Real Ghostbusters (watching it on YouTube) and Gumby.

First thing first...I'm a hard of hearing person but still hear well of course. I've had heart problems (being doing great now) and swallowing problems before. I've had 4 heart operations (when I was an infant, age 5 or 6, age 11 and age 22.......it was mainly has to do with the aortic valve. Every 10 years I would go for a heart operation and they would make sure that its doing what its suppose to do and fix it up a bit. My 4th one is a different story though.

Anyways...

I was born in March 30, 1978....I've only been home for a short well and I was really sick and had to stay in the hospital and been there for 2 years. I had my first heart operation then when I was an infant.

1980- I was still in the hospital when I turned 2....didn't start walking until I was 2 years and 6 months old. My first two birthday parties have been in the hospital. I was baptised in the hospital too back when I was still an infant (probably 2 months old when that happened).

1983- When to school at age 5...was in a hearing impaired class until i was 12 before going to the regular class (started with Grade 4).

1989- My 2nd heart operation at age 11 (which was in November of that year...was suppose to be the month before but got changed to November). In the spring...I coudn't go with my Mom and older brother to Disney World in Florida as I had to be rested and prepared for the heart operation as stated above. I was sad that I couldn't go.

1990 (do we count this year? lol)- At age 12, Near the end of August...me and my family went travelling (by car of course) to Toronto to visit my Mom's sister (Aunt) and also went to see the Toronto Blue Jays game. Later in the fall, I started going to regular classes....as stated above of course.
