Tensou Sentai Goseiger - Let's Descend!

When/where? I've heard that toy sales for the first couple quarters were poor but nothing else.

Apparently they don't consider it a success and, I dunno, to me that just say it probably failed. I remember overhearing not too long ago that some toy store owners were saying Goseiger products just do not move.

Oh, that's nice. Another ten years of godawful shows like Shinkenger and (probably) Gokaiger. I think I will stick to Kamen Rider in future

Well Goseigers was on auto pilot, until the Matrintis arc. Mostly because Toei was so busy preping for Gokaigers, that they wern't paying attention to what was in front of them at that time. So I can see why it wasn't considered a sucess.

Or it could just mean they'll start taking a different approach to how they handle the toys. If the Goseiger producer was fired/stepped down over how he handled the toys and changes made in the first two arcs (which I don't think any of us were happy about), it could mean we'll just start getting more stuff like the Matrintis arc.

I know it's fun to fantasize that everything is terrible, but right now we're operating off one thirdhand rumor that we don't even know the full implications of, even if it's true. It could easily have nothing to do with the type of story Goseiger is, and everything to do with how it was produced.

I said I'd keep the negativity about Shinkenger to a minimum but I really think it poisoned the well for Goseiger, so to speak. Toei continued to trade on its success and fans (including the Japanese fans, evidently) refused to accept Goseiger simply because it wasn't like Shinkenger. It's basically the same thing that happened with Kiva after Den-O. So, yeah, now we'll get another 5-10 years of shows like Shinkenger and probably Gokaiger, which with all the hype is probably going to be very successful. I may as well just give up on Sentai at this point

I've always thought that was true. Toei's had a habit of making seem even terrible shows seem exciting through promotion alone. Goseiger just seems to overflow with a sense of apathy in the production and when that changed, it was perhaps too late for that specific series.

Though I would love more stuff like the Manrintis arc, it was easily one of the best arcs in ages.

So I may sound like I'm splitting hairs here and I'll apologize for that in advance. This sort of thing happens to be really interesting to me because I'm a business reporter by day.

For a business to call something "not a success" or "a failure" usually means two completely different things, even though in day-to-day language we might think of them as the same idea.

A product is generally only called a failure by its parent company if it actively and obviously damaged the company somehow. "Not a success" usually just means the product underperformed, but nobody lost their shirt and the company will do something different in the next quarter/year/etc.

If Toei is actually saying that Goseiger failed, then Goseiger has actively screwed up the company somehow and Goukaiger may be an attempt at damage control. If Toei simply considers Goseiger "not a success," then that just means it underperformed and they'll not make something like this again.

I find this completely believable. I can't imagine what kid would want something like Mystic Runner or the Tensounder. I'm not surprised that when we lost the original producer, we suddenly got toys that looked like some kid might actually want to play with them.

Godawful? Shinkenger was awesome. A lot better than the blandness that was Goseiger.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact it wasn't like Shinkenger. It has to do with the overall poor writing of the show.
