In Epic 1 I would agree with you, but he's redeemed himself too many times for him to be a bad actor.

No, he is bad.
His character has become better, but the acting hasn't moved on. He still puts on the cheesiest grins when he's supposed to be frustrated, you can see it just before the camera cuts actually that he's about to smirk and lose his role. I'm up to the area where Gosei Knight is introduced and he's still doing it.

I think there's been plenty of that in recent Sentai. Character does something stupid and misguided because (s)he thinks (s)he's being noble and heroic (Eri wants to make a child's birthday cake before she will fight, ShinkenGold refusing to kill Juzo, Go-on Blue defending a Gaiark ...), this puts the whole world in danger as well as all the heroes, but the show thinks it's made a positive moral point. Give me the add-ons any day ...

Those things are far from being "recent" concepts in sentai. A sentai senshi defending a monster, in particular, is older than life.

They never seem to be rewarded for those actions though. They don't get new headers directly as a result from learning from the lessons shown in the episodes. That was my original point.

Hahhahahahahahah. We're gonna go through all the cast with this one aren't we? Maybe it's just their acting styles and the ones we prefer personally. However, I fail to see any change of mood in Alata, he's just too smiley... even when he's being 'angry'.

I see, now that is true.
Still, i wouldn't call it a sentai trend..it's just that Goseiger's writing seems to be way lazier than usual.

btw about Hamao... u know, it's funny cos we used to complain about him not getting enough screen time or focus episodes but I found myself just cringing whenever he has his "moments"

His face looks awkward most of the time and he only has that 1/2 facial expressions. I wouldn't be surprised if the scriptwriters CAN'T write any GoseiBlack focus episodes BECAUSE of Hamao..lol
