Super Sentai Novels Starting With Shinkenger

On one hand, it might have a chance of turning out well. A lot of people, even those who otherwise didn't like Gokaiger, thought the Jetman episode was one of the best of the series. But then the episode was uncharacteristically sombre for that show; would we want a whole novel written in that style? Gokaiger is supposed to be upbeat and optimistic, words that don't often go hand in hand with Inoue ...

If we'd base it on his usual tropes, Walz would be still annoying but because this time he's the dickhead. Joe would only have internal monologue, not speaking to anyone. Maybe there could be a Gokai love triangle. And then Gai would just be the guy who likes to swim.

But if we base it off of the tropes in the Jetman tribute, everyone would be in character, but they'd just be put in a dramatic situation.

If they can't get the original writers for the works to do the novels they really shouldn't be doing any of it. The show and their conception are just too tied in with their respective writers imo. Some writer Toei or Inoue picked out isn't going to be able to replicate the original show in a prose format unless he or she is willing to spend an enormous amount of time watching and rewatchin an entire year worth of episodes.

As for Inoue doing anything, that is just painful frankly. Despite his apologists trying to trump out his work on Garo and Gokaiger as some sort of return to greatness, the man lost it along time ago, the fact that he is allowed to run the prose side of KR/SS is just typical nepotism.

Inoue didn't write all the novels, and of the ones he didn't write, 3 sound fairly good. Kuuga was by the main writer, W was by Sanjo, and while I don't know who wrote OOO's and it wasn't Kobayashi it sounds good. Blade and Hibiki are the only other ones which weren't by Inoue and sound like they could be good, Den-O sounds alright but nothing special

I'd rather hope after how awful Inoue's novels were they wouldn't give him any of the Sentai ones except Jetman (which he'd probably just make a reprint of one of his existing novels anyway. Speaking of, did Inoue write the Jetman Manga?)

Presumably Kobayashi isn't doing the Shinkenger one anyway seeing as she didn't do OOO, Den-O or Ryuki.

Inoue was the editor for the Agito, Kiva and Decade novel and wrote Ryuki and Agito. From the reports, those he worked on were some of the worst novels.

Well yeah. He also wrote Faiz and there he literally just took the novel he'd already done and added 40 pages. I don't mind the idea in it of this half-orphenoch being something different to the Orphenochs but otherwise it's just lazy.

Japanese wiki says otherwise and I'm inclined to go with it.

But I don't understand all this stuff i hear about the Kamen Rider wiki and Power Ranger wiki being crap (beyond their odd decision to include Sentai on the Power Ranger Wiki and Masked Rider on the Kamen Rider one (Dragon Knight being included is fine)

What's made me hate the KR Wiki is their decisions to take wild guesses as to the identities of Gridon and Kurokage and then decide "Eh, the pages are already set up, we're leaving it until proven wrong."

And some of their categories (which have gotten better), like classifying Shinji and Shotaro under the category "Funny Riders", which makes no real sense as a category.

"The final battle between the samurais and the enemies of humanity, Gedoushu!
The 18th head of the Shiba clan, Takeru Shiba!"
"The Gedoushu are spreading an unknown virus to kill humanity, how will the samurais stop them?"

It doesn't really sound that interesting.

Er ... The same way they stopped the Gedoushuu all throughout the TV series and in multiple movies? Maybe?
