While the Space Sheriff series is very popular with the Metal Heroes franchise, Jiraiya to BF Kabuto was the latest. And still memorable to those who grew up in the 90's.

After how Gavan the Movie turned out, I don't think that they'll ever risk making a Metal Heroes movie. Since these days it needs Kamen Rider or Sentai to just carry it. The same with Ishinomori's Heroes. Mostly because the newer fans have no clue.

Maybe a different update of a character from that line done in a new way might do okay at the box office, who knows. That said, it is odd that we have to concern ourselves so much with the financial side on the net these days.

That said, I'd rather see some new ideas, brand new toku franchises or movies. I can appreciate something I like being brought back, but generally I think it limits the scope and imagination a bit trying to fit so faithfully to a classic TV show. That show was new once, and we're always going to need brand new ones.

I agree with you, i think it is time to sincerely create and just not recycle the metal heroes franchise. If anything the movie showed that there is an audience for it to a certain extent. Also I blame their PR in the marketing of the gavan movie, for a 30 year old series i think its fame goes well beyond Japan, should have been marketed as such....

Yeah, I think maybe B-Fighter would work... it has the Sentai type team focus, mecha, and the Kabuto team even have two robots, while having a more armoured appearance and the bug motif associated with Kamen Rider. I think if they want to revive Metal Heroes properly, it needs something completely new though, to air at 7am on Sunday mornings (the only slot without a long runner in it, the other three Sunday morning slots being Sentai, Rider and PreCure).

They don't have that much of budget for this movie since they already made some new costumes (Space Ikadevil, Space Spider Man, Rader).

That timeslot is for Battle Spirits, which is in its 5th year already, and also has an annual reboot format. It's not a "long runner", but give it a few more years and it'll be.

^Nice, Captain Marvelous is in the movie. Inazuman is voice only though and Akaranger and Rider 1 are Seki and Inada again.
