Storing Your Collection

So recently the lower level of my house flooded but, thankfully, there was no serious damage to my home or my toys (thanks to my shelves). But this got me wondering, how do you guys store your toys that aren't on display? Do you put them in any special containers (plastic boxes, etc.)? Have them piled up in a closet like I did? What ways do you use to keep your collection safe and out of harms way? I figure sharing this information could benefit others as well as myself.

Edit: Title fail...should say Storing haha.

All our import toys like figuarts and some revoltech we keep in packaging on a book shelf. But stuff that we get in vegas we have too many to store properly so they're just in boxes, just a **** load figures piled on top of each other in a box. some in durable plastic boxes and some in a cardboard box, actually some figures are in plastic bags.

I display most of my stuff, but use plastic storage boxes for things that I am not displaying. For S.H.Figuarts, figmas, Revoltechs, and other Japanese toys that aren't being displayed, I return them to their original boxes and neatly stack them all inside a larger box for storage. I keep all original boxes of Japanese toys as well and those get stored away in containers as well.

The majority of the time all my toys are out on shelves for display. Any boxes they came with are stored in the attic in bigger boxes to avoid yellowing and dirt. They are also kept out of the sunlight thanks to the trees infront of my house.
I think I'm gonna upgrade to these strong sturdy boxes my dad seems to get from his job in the foreseeable future.

Whats in these boxes ?.. strong smells can last a long time and also stick to the toys them self if you are not careful ... cigarette smells is well known for this. I take no protection my self... I have my display bookcases & everything else is in boxes stored away.. If something bad is going to happen there is not much that can be done to stop it is my view ... Even plastic storage boxes are not water proof & definitely not fire proof

Thanks for sharing everyone :)

I've decided to store all my stuff on plastic boxes now. I wish I had an attic to put things though. :disappoin

Also can a mod change the title? It's kinda bothering me

Well they're used to store chemicals for make up I think however they've been used for other things for ages. No funky smells came out of the items stored there or anything.

Is that where your Franken-box from my last haul came from?

My old bookshelf made way for all sorts of hauls. The top one so far is the only thing used for displaying my collectibles.

The rest of the bookshelf is used up by my old issues of Shonen Jump.

I gotta find a place for those...but other things such as mugs for drinking tea or hot chocolate, tissue boxes, and old Yu-Gi-Oh tins also occupy there, but I'm gonna have to take them out too for future hauls...

This is how I store all of my SH Figuarts collection.

Haven't opened and displayed them yet, due to space constraint. Everything is still sealed in box. Each box is wrapped with plastic cover for protection.

:)
