Square can't leave well enough alone

As for what I have against SO is that it is a Fantasy RPG, but it looks like it should a a sci-fi RPG. Then as a person looking for a sci-fi JRPG and coming across SO only to have my hopes crushed, has left a scar that will never be healed as people will argue that it is not like that. Seriously, they just like making rules of why it can't be awesome and sci-fi, oh you want to go though this gate, drop your gun and anything not fantasy based. You want to kill stuff on this undeveloped planet, well you have to use this sword to be all PR.

I've always felt that the games have a good mix of SciFi and Fantasy, and that's exactly what makes them great. Yes there is the underdeveloped planet code, but that same code existed in Star Trek. And even despite the underdeveloped planet code... people still bring guns to these planets. Perhaps the reason that scar is never healing, and people always telling you it's not like that, is because said people have completed the games and know what goes on later. SO 3 is definitely not strictly Fantasy once you clear the first half, SO4 even less so.

I still feel lied to in the end though. I watched my friend go though a lot of 4, and it started to address the problem, but then
home boy goes and blows up parallel past earth, and seriously home boy blows up earth
. I do want to like the games, I went though more than I thought I would of 3 hearing that aliens blow up the place and the good part of the game happens. Yes the games are very much Star Trek, it just always seems to be the parts where they have to not be all advanced and have all their neat stuff. Then I just have problems with the game, I'm a very bitter person with RPGs and Star Ocean just never got on my good side. Sure its a whole I expect this from looking at the game and title, but there are not many SciFi RPGs in my opinion, really in the JRPG area. In the western RPG front (WRPGs) there is Fallout, Mass Effect, Deus Ex, and so on, but there isn't that Final Fanatasy (or any JRPG (Since Phantasy Star)), but in the future and awesome, though you could use some of the FFs as examples, but meh. Though in the end I think Infinite Space will come along and fix my problem. In the end just my opinion, I know there are the fans of it and I don't mean to upset any of them (though I know I sound otherwise in places), I just didn't care for it and how it went about what it did.

Then to address King with Actraiser 2, in the first game while it was cool having both play styles, both of them were very simple and basic. In my opinion 2 decided to take one of those styles and build a game around that, and I think it worked for the most part.

I'm sorry but you were pretty unclear there. Did you say that ME and Fallout 3 are JRPGS?

Neither actuality, I was meaning to point out WRPGs do SciFi more, and I just forgot where I was in my post. I am not that much of a moron to say either of those are JRPGs. Just really I don't care for Fantasy that much and I get annoyed there are so many Fantasy RPGs (though there are good ones, I mean more towards WRPGs in that case) and there are so few otherwise really so I get my hopes up when one seems like it is going to be a different setting, but ends up being about the same.

See but that is where you are wrong IMO about SO. SO is lots of places. Fantasy settings, Sci-fi settings, and more. There is a lot more to SO than just one type of genre.

It just seems SO wants to send you to the past for some reason though like the first game, I got on that ship and was ready to travel the universe, then I get sent back in time to find patient 0 or whatever it was. SO had the right idea, but then it uses time travel just to annoy me. I was perfectly fine with pulling someone from a underdeveloped planet and then going out into the universe and stuff. Other way around, not so much; though again my dislike of Fantasy comes in and I really don't want my SciFi mixed with Fantasy. Then also no offense, but the fighting seemed like a poor mans Tales fighting system.
