Spider-Man 3 - Talkback *SPOILERS*

For however much it was hyped up, it was that much a flop and disappointment. It was much too long, plots dragged on forever, movie could've feasibly ended at three different spots, and the fights weren't even that good. They weren't terrible, but not worth the mustard or off-balancing the length of the movie. Several times, you wanted to fast forward or fall asleep (since you can't FF a movie), or bop Peter Parker over the head for his sheer inane stupidity. Granted, he can't be blamed for all of that...but, yeah. And they didn't follow the comics...at least not to a T. Verdict and Suggestion? Watch this at home on DVD. You're not missing much if you don't see this on the big screen.

I'd say "lower your expectations, and for all non-Venom fans, enjoy Raimi sticking two fingers at those who are", this was a superb film and dealt with all aspects of the storyline very well

Venom didn't even need to be in this film. It would probably have flowed alot better w/o the character thrown in there but I thought they handled it ok for the amount of material they had to stuff in this film. The only way I would want a Spider-man 4 is if the whole cast returned including Raimi directing. Since that's probably not gonna happen, I'm glad they did what they had to do in this one. Again, I thought the movie was great.

there's a very good reason Venom would disappear for long stretches of time during the final fight. Raimi DIDN'T want him there. but the purpose of a film is to make money and sandman toys arn't gonna sell as well.

In my opinion, James Franco stole the whole show. I wasnt expecting Harry to lose his memory, but it makes sense that they would do that so they dont have to worry about the altercation between him and Peter throughout most of the movie. But because of the memory loss we get to see so much emotion from the guy. There were so many fantastic moments from the character. Great stuff, and none of this would mean anything had he not had the excellent set up in the prior movies.

That evil grin he flashed peter in the diner was just nothing short of chilling and beautiful at the same time.

The movie was good. A bit long, but good. I love how Eddie looks when he becomes Venom. The teeth, the hair, so very kewl. The minute I heard Venom talk, though, I could hear the cries of the little fandom piggies squealing in pain as Venom had a normal voice versus a more alien, demonic voice. But I didnt mind.

What bugged me though, was Sandman. He was great, but his role at the end of the movie felt very forced and rushed. He's trying to help his sick daughter, so exactly why is he focusing on Spider-man now? I know Spidey has gotten in his way but wouldnt he be more focused on his daughter and worry about Spider later? I just didnt get why he teamed up with Venom at the end. Felt like there should have been more of a reason at the end. Like, Venom knew of a way to help his daughter and would tell him if he helped out. Or did he make that offer and I just blanked out?? I know Venom mentioned his daughter but he was just like "you want Spiderman dead, so do I so lets kick his ass".

Oh well, the resulting end battle was kewl. Im not sure if I liked Sandmans ending, though. He fades away, that's neat. But I'm left wondering "is his daughter going to be ok". Speaking of the end battle, the entire bit with MJ constantly in worse and worse trouble was edge-of-your-seat stuff. I was constantly wondering how she was going to be saved.

One thing though, I just loved that, again, this movie focuses on the characters in the movie and not the villains. This movie was mostly Peter, MJ, Harry, and Eddie. This wasnt a "what's Sandman going to do now!" or "How will Venom brood and plot his next dastardly scheme?!". It was very down to earth and I love that. This is what makes the Spider-man movies so appealing to me, the fact that the movie really tries to humanize everything while remembering it's a comic book, of sorts. You can relate to a lot of the scenarios.

You know, if they stopped spider-man here, this would be perfect. Peter has grown so much. Become a man, learned to deal with juggling his life and the pressures of a hero, and finally learning true forgiveness. It's come full circle. I cant begin to imagine what the next script will look like. I almost dont want to. This is a perfect ending.

If I could change one thing about this movie, I would have liked to have a little more Eddie progression. The small bits we got were fantastic. It just would have been nice to have a little bit more along with more of Gwen.

blah blah blah. Great movie.

I agree. They should end it here. In my mind, this was a perfect Trilogy.

Got back from the 8PM show.

My thoughts: (FEAR THE SPOILERS!!!)

The first fight...badass. Especially in the end where Harry trips over and gets bonked twice on the ground before going into coma.

Peter going RyuRyo (Den-O reference) in the dancing department and UraRyo in the "pimping" mode. Symbiote = Imagin ?

Majority of the storyline and the fight scenes. I didn't feel it was rushed for the most part. Granted, we could've seen some more Venom/Symbiote action, but I felt it did justice to the film and we pretty much see it go on in Peter's mind and actions (ala, see previous remark.)

Sandman did a good job. I honestly never knew how he was created (didn't have the time to Wiki it nor Google it either.) Still, Hayden Church is at his best, especially with that trademark stare of his.

While MJ's scenes were decent, I found the bitchslap by Peter the best part (the audience oohed and were shocked) but reasonable to the least. The character was sexually confused and Pete was trying to be a resonable BF. So yeah, MJ. Take it like a woman.

Gwen = hotness. Again, I'm glad they didn't pull her trump card which could possibly lead to the 4th movie being her....untimely death? Leaves a lot of speculation and desire I guess...

Peter vs Harry. The BEST. FIGHT. EVER.

I knew the Bell scene/VenomEddie was coming so its no suprise, but the climax wowed me. Too bad Green Glider (whoever his name is) got the boot. It was like watching Superman vs Batman teamup except that it's got MJ instead of Lois. I didn't feel it was a rushed battle. Maybe it left some opening to Part 4. Sandman may not return (given that he's forgiven by Peter) but a high chance that Venom might return. Otherwise, he got jynxed big time.

Bruce Campell(sp) = Awesome.

If 1 talked about responsibility and 2 talked about Heroism, then 3 centers around Choices. Maybe it's cheesy much, but I like a movie with a message. A good moral message that is.

Overall, the movie is worth watching again. Better than 2 and 1. 1 had content, 2 had Drama, and 3 has both plus Villans. I hope they make more with Raimi and Raimi only. Maybe add in Venom's resurrection/Clone Saga/Lizard inference/Carnage?

9.6/10

Just got back from seeing this and I loved it. With all the negative reviews I've been hearing I was a little worried. The action scenes were great especially the last one. I noticed that some parts in the first fight between Peter and Harry weren't in the clip that was released a couple months ago.

The only thing that disappointed me is that Peter only fought with the black suit on just once. I would have at least liked another fight with him wearing it.

The reactions ARE very odd to read really. Unquestionably this was Spider-Man's answer to "The Empire Strikes Back", with hardly any upbeats in the film at all, that's pretty true to the Spider-Man comics sometimes, not all of them end with with a happy ending.

Mainstream audiences seem to beleive these kind of endings are great for X-Men and Batman, but they simply can't understand why someone like Spider-Man has them, because the standards set by the first two have been "guy overcomes personal adversity and saves the day". This film shook that dynamic to it's core like a comic would to the characters, but those who do know Spidey has problems but overcomes them can't deal with him still facing some kind of personal defeat when the film ends (he DID lose a freind, forgave his uncle's killer, and he had reacted in anger to someone he thought he'd never touch in a harsh way)

It'd be wise not to repeat what they tried here, whilst a few purists understand why this film was what it was, others used to their own idea of Spider-Man simply can't appreciate the idea.
