And thus we reach what is now, by my estimation, the fourth finale for Mayday Parker's ongoing title as Spider-Girl came to it's latest conclusion last week. Tom DeFalco insisted that there be no spoilers for a week, which has now passed
[hide]The issue roughly ties up loose ends from the gang war and clone sagas that have been dominating The Amazing Spider-Girl and The Spectacular Spider-Girl titles for some time, and the twist in the story I feel was Tom directly ribbing OMIT by using a stitch in time to ENHANCE The Parker's future as opposed to crippling it the way Quesada did in OMIT
Mayday dies saving the life of her symbiotic clone April, who lives a long life way into the future, which is dominated by monsters. April goes back in time, persuades her younger self to save Mayday and repent for her life of vengeful justice, and in doing so the younger April succesfully nullifies the dark future by saving Mayday. Mayday is then united with her love interest Wes as he reveals he knows who she is due to recognizing the same scented shampoo in his encounters with both Mayday and Spider-Girl, they kiss, and that's where we leave the Parkers for what may be the last time, with the future of Mayday and Wes uncertain, but you can pretty much guess they'll probably have a happy and enduring relationship for as long as the title is on hiatus[/hide]
Good read
