Some Dude Sues Airline for $1M Over Lost Xbox

A Yale University student from Ohio has filed a lawsuit seeking $1 million from US Airways for a video game console he says was taken from his luggage.

Twenty-one-year-old Jesse Maiman alleges that during a flight from New Haven, Conn., to Cincinnati in December, his Xbox 360 with a specialized hard drive disappeared from his luggage.

Maiman says he got what he called "an unconscionable run-around" from the airline. He's asking $1,700 for the loss of the gaming system and for the maximum damages allowable, or $1 million.

Maiman filed the suit Monday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.

A US Airways spokeswoman said the airline was unaware of the suit but noted that the government limits liability for lost luggage to $3,300 per bag.

"specialized" hard drive? Wtf does that mean? Yes losing your 360 with anything you might have purchased and downloaded onto your HD is a bummer. But even still. He's just trying to get easy money

Why not just sue for enough to buy a new XBOX, maybe with a little left over to grab a pizza or something? There's no sense in suing for upwards of a million; you don't get rewarded for getting your **** stolen.

hehe i saw this article yesterday

but after thinking about it a bit.. do they mean that they opened up his luggage and removed the xbox? .... cuz that's sorta what was implied to me

i would be uber pissed if they took my xbox out of my luggage and gave me back the suitcase >_>

Seriously though, for someone who goes to Yale, he's rather dumb and naive to not think that something like this might happen. If he valued it as much as he says he did, he would have done the SMART thing and kept it with him in his carry-on luggage so that it would NOT leave his side.

haha i know how that is.... carrying two laptops and an external hard drive + all my little toys ... nds, psp, my electronic dictionary (which was $600 by the way), and other various toys all through carry on.. its noooot fun... but i did it!

obviously the xbox wasn't worth enough to him... i was considering doing the same with my ps3... but i didn't have the room... so i left it at home >_> ..... i don't leave my electronics for the baggage people to mess with
