Yeah, quite honestly, the whole channel is starting to go downhill. A lot of their popular shows been ending in the past couple of years, viewership ratings for the channel as a whole have dropped & more of the series' they've been trying to rake in as replacements have been failing miserably.

Personally, I think they should clean out half of their lineup & pull repeats of some off the more popluar cable dramas. My area's CW is taken up with infomercials at night, court shows in the morning & reruns of old sitcoms & degrassi in the afternoon. Imaging how much their ratings would boost if they brought over reruns of shows like The Walking Dead, Warehouse 13, & a few other similar shows?

That, plus focusing on more mainstream shows for the CW & they could be the powerhouse of public television. Besides, the only show on that channel I find worth watching right now is Nikita.

In the world of fantasy fiction, death is just as cheap as its PG-rated substitutes.

As for the "Kamen Rider failed twice" issue, Dragon Knight was more than a failure: it was a complete disaster. They didn't even air the last two episodes. That is unspeakably bad. Even TV shows that bomb are usually able to clear out their completed episodes before disappearing.

Saban's Masked Rider, on the other hand, has a rather deceiving reputation. While it was a total mess on a technical level, the ratings were never especially low in comparison to other PR knockoffs. A fact that a lot of people miss is that it ran for two seasons: one 27 episodes and the other 13 episodes. The reason it was canceled was twofold: T.J. Roberts (the title character) decided to leave the show and the remaining RX footage simply couldn't support another season, even a short one (and Saban didn't have any of the monster costumes). Continuing the show would have meant both recasting the lead and using footage that was even older than the already noticeably old RX scenes.

Factor in that Beetleborgs is both easier to produce due to having all the costumes AND is currently outperforming PR in the ratings, and continuing Masked Rider simply would have been more trouble than it was worth. I would have liked it if the show had gotten an actual finale, though, especially since it shares a universe with PR.

They blew the footage as simple as that. They could have used the ZX special and combined it with Black's Episode 0 as a pilot, then used Black and then RX. Make Shin, ZO and J alternate Riders from parts of Edenoi like those which came with the Super Blue and Gold powers. Shin is like the slave race of the Edenoians that did the dirty work ,but had a similar form to them which was the basis for their Rider system. ZO is from one of the moons of the planet, who gives his powers to a human while J is the Rider of Earth/upgrade of ZO. Dex has to unite and toss aside the preconceptions of the other peoples to fight his evil uncle, even coming out as potential "upgrades" in some sense or form.

But in the first two seasons, Black goes alone. Memories erased , he lives peacefully with a family until the invasion of the uncle's army has caused a traumatic return of it. His younger brother is taken after he loses the fight and becomes Shadow Moon ,while the family is on the run. Only Dex can fight these invaders and for the while he succeeds. But the battle turns and as he loses and loses the powers , the Shin Rider comes along and fights them off, may or may not be from Edenoi. He gets the RX powers,an ancient royal artifact, as a parting gift from him. Thus the Rx footage is used until ZO comes along and gives him a "Nature Form" ala J if J isn't his own Rider. If he is , than he sacrifices himself and gives the power to Dex.

The Final season is largely based on the canon Masked Rider with Leawood being the huge multipart finale. Use all films and specials and you got extra eps. alongside if it gets a Black2 or RX2.

If they did this Masked Rider could have caught on and perhaps Kuuga could have been the next season.

Was the dubbing complete on those episodes, though? It's perfectly normal to stop production when you know a show is canceled, but a finished product is normally pushed out regardless so as not to make it a complete waste of money.

DOn't know, but it still shows how much they really don't give a damn about their shows.

Kuuga hadn't been made yet. An adaptation wouldn't be possible before 2001, by which time Saban Entertainment was no more, having been sold to Disney.

Time Force was made in 2001 in that same transitory period the same as Tamers (2002) and I believe RID. Wild Force was their last production too. What does that prove exactly now?

Had they adapted Kuuga as the next iteration, they could have gotten the popularity from the first series to hype it up. You wouldn't need Dex as how they said of his son being a Rider...

If I can butt in out of boredom, here- I think a really good way to do KR in the US would be to not use the Japanese footage, just the suits.

As for the story, take the idea of the Kamen Rider Shin/ The First & combine it with the Kabuto backstory & adapt Kabuto. Later on in the series, we can find out that other contries besides the US have discovered the Worm threat & have developed similar Rider tech, then use the armor from other seasons as those foreign Riders. Include other baddies like corrupt corporations or terrorists that are funded by the Worm leaders & have all the differant Riders coming across each other with their own missions/ agendas & getting in each others' ways.

I feel this would work because most Americans (at least) like a full, unified story & this will at least push it past too many comparisions to, say, Power Rangers, Ironman, Captain America or Bionic Man/ Woman.

On another note, nothing new about this Shout Factory DVd set(s) thing, eh?

If you check out Brian Ward's thread on Rangerboard, there's some hints to what we're gonna get.
