Shinkenger's Outcome - Blame it on the Mecha?

No..I think I would have to disagree. I think I can honestly say that Shinkenger's success or failure to people is do to other reasons, instead f the mecha alone.

I remember as the Origami kept coming, people thought this would be Shinken's downfall, but It wasn't. The good thing they did was getting all the origami's & combos out of the way by the mid 30's, and left room for story in the rest of It's run.

What do you guys think? Do you the Mecha had a huge impact on Shinkenger's outcome?

I actually loved the original 5 and the 3 add on origami, but was only okay with Shinkengold's lot. I liked the Great Ox King. I wasn't too keen on the combinations of said Shinkengold and we all know Samurai Haoh was attrocious in design. However, I still never hated watching any of them like Gekiranger or Go Onger. But if anything I would have liked to see more combinations or at least battles featuring the add on mecha. I'm just glad we got a final good display of the different battle helmets near the end (complete with rocking fight song!) That said I think the mecha were a big win this series.

I'm left wondering what Ebi or Mogyuu ShinkenOh would have been like.

Just like how many licks it takes to get to the center or a tootsie pop; the world may never know.

Well said. I gotta say, the 1st 3 aux. mechs flowed well, and came into the series smoooooothly. But like Daigoyo, and ebi felt off.

If mogiyuu origami didn't have a great intro and story behind it, I wouldn't of liked it either.

Mecha was one of the factors yes. But not the main one.

I think the outcome was more on the Rangers themselves than the Origami. Especially when they found out that Takeru wasn't the real lord. They could have abandoned him for lying, but instead they chose to continue supporting him. Because Takeru being their friend was more important.

I'd blame the kekeke mecha rush for why the run of eps in the middle of the show-- late 20s, early 30s, iirc-- are pretty bad. The feel they gave me is that they just had to introduce so many toys at once, the production crew really had no idea how to make it interesting. So, they just went through the motions and got it over with. That kind of attitude never results in good TV....

Wow, your probably right about the crew being caught by surprise with all the merchandise also, because it does feel like that.

Thing is, even with some of those mecha/weapon intro eps, they had some crappy ratings. So they at least should put some effort into the writing of a weapon/mecha ep, instead of making it obvious filler.

I actually kinda liked the Samurai Haoh. The concept of it being a mech that's basically carted in on a mobile stage is kinda neat. I really like the basic Samurai Oh. Pretty much everything in between, I could really do without.
