Seven Star Fighting God Guferd

Finished off episode 20 last night. 6 final episodes remaining.

I loved the fight between Guyferd and Metal Master. Some awesome moves were done.

Doctor is freakin' halarious. This is the kind of comedy I enjoy in Tokusatsu, not the unfunny stupid crap in other Toku. My favourite part was when he was petrefied of the small white dog.

So Zodiac has a form now and it sorta resembles an early version of the main villian from Gransazer & Justiriser, imo. Same with his voice.

Was that the end of Masato when the base blew up? I was expecting to see more Guyferd vs. Deathferd. :bawling:

The episode where Gou's old trainer was killed was pretty dramatic, wow.

Rei continues to impress the hell outta me with her martial arts ability.

Ryu pissing on the floor so the Soldier steps in it to get the electrical shock was freakin' halarious.

According to the final 6 episode titles it looks like I'm in for some serious battles. I can't wait to check it out tonight.

Eps 22-23 - Gou got his ass handed to him from the Wrestling style baddie. It's about time Guyferd got a good beatdown.
Any idea what that long gold sword is?.
Doctor doing the flying headbut was HALARIOUS. That guy cracks me up.
I like when Gou returned and finished the villian off. Very awesome sidekick to the face.
Music at the end of the episode is done by the same group who did the music from Gransazer/Justiriser. I was thinking they did all the music for Guyferd since epsode 1, I know and love their style and this confirmed it fully for me. Except back then in 1996 their sound was still a bit more raw.

Ep 24 - Good to have Masato back. I think that dude kicks all kinds of ass.
I'm still not sure why the Guy turned on Gou earlier in the series, why he ran into the exploding base, how he survived, and if he is good or not. lol. Damn confusion.

Ep 25 - Excellent LONG fighting scenes. >'s All other Toku's fight scenes, IMO.
I wonder why Gou's body is in pain and I wonder why the Big Bad wants it?. hmmmm.

Something bad happend, 2 minutes into the final episode the disc ENDED. Meaning the episode was cut off. I contacted the guy I got it from and he is going to toss me a new one in the next few weeks. Which completely fucking sucks. Shadow, If you know where I am able to nab that episode ASAP please lemme know. I NEED to see how this ends, it's just too damn awesome to have to wait on. :bawling:

The long gold sword would be the Shichi Sei Ken (Seven Star Sword). It's one of three items along with a gold tablet that activates the Gaia Net. What the Gaia net actually is (aside from being ancient technology) I'm still not sure, however, Zodiac had planned to use it to spread the Farra Parasite over the world.

Zodiac needs Gou's body because one of the three items he needs to activate Gaia Net had fused within Gou's body/Guyferd's belt when he was ressurected from some spiritual plane.

So you need episode 26 then? I could possibly rip that episode from my DVDs for you. I'll get back to you on that.

BTW, I just won the Guyferd Soundtrack off YJ! :buttrock: I can't wait until I have it in hand. :anime:

You are a God. I talked to the Dude i got the set from and he never got that far into the series to know the episode cut off. So it'll be a long while before I can get it from him. :bawling:

But if you are able to do that for me.... Oh man..... :buttrock:

I've never been so hyped to watch a final battle. I just wanna see what happens so badly.

Well I finished the encode. I'll PM you the link FK once I've finished uploading it.

If anyone else is interested in the episode I'll probably post the link here too after FK's downloaded it. Although there's really no point in watching the final episode without seeing the series from the beginning.

Anyway, it is one of my favorite Toku finales. It's a very dramatic ending and handled quite well as far as I'm concerned. The final battle with Zodiac is also a favorite of mine.

Thanks to Shadowrider I didn't have to wait long for the remainder of the final episode.

I watched the ep the second it finished downloading and I really enjoyed it. I like the dramatic part when everyone put their hands above Gou's dead body and revived him.

The shirtless fight scene > Leo's shirt rip in 1999. *does gay hand movement*

I was expecting a little bit more from the final battle with Zodiac but it was still great. I wanted to cheer when Guyferd finally defeated him but it was 7am here so I couldn't lol. Seeing Masato & Gou team up in the final episode was also something worthy of giving one some serious goosebumps.

The kids in the series > Any other child to ever step foot into Tokusatsu. They kicked so much ass and were just straight up cool, especially future Sazer Mithras.

Doctor was just damn halarious. I swear, whenever this guy pulled the comedy part it worked and then some. There was some parts where I honestley wanted to burst out laughing my ass off. Especially when he was terrified of the small white dog.

The Villians were pretty awesome. Zodiac & Metal Master ended up being my favourites of them all. Their voice acting HAD to have been done by the same guy who did the main villians of Sazer & Riser.

The highlight of the series for me wasn't the storyline which was still cool, but it was the fight scenes. They just felt so non choreographed and so real that it was just so exciting to watch and was always my favourite part of the episode. Even if you don't end up liking this series, I'm willing to bet you'd watch those 17 minutes just to get to the 18th minute to see the fight scene.

Gou & Masato sacraficing themself in the end was definatley heroic. I'm shocked the series actually ended on a sad note. The only other hero I know of who could be somewhat compared in this situation is Ryuusei Tsurugi/Metalder.

When they did end up sacraficing themselves I thought to myself, Masato did this earlier on in the series and ended up surviving so there is still hope.

The series SHOULD have definatley gone on to the 50 episode mark rather than just 26. I could only imagine what awesomeness could have come from that.

Overall I must say I was pleasently surprised by this series. I know Capcom created it but I know the Gransazer/Justiriser crew (behind the scenes) had an involvement in it and if they didn't then that is just uncanny.

To sum up Guyferd, like I said at the beginning of this thread: "Gransazer meets Metalder".

and to finish it off..... "Guyferd Forever".

and Big Ups yo, to Shadowrider for taking time out of his day to link me up with the finishing episode. :buttrock:

Overall Grade: B

Next Stop: Tokkei Winspector

I'm just glad you enjoyed the series FK, and like I said it's one that more people need to check out.

I started writing a full review for Guyferd back when I first finished the series, but it's still imcomplete. I may have to rewatch the series once more before I go back to revise what I previously wrote. There are many points I missed the first (and probably the second) time around, including some which FK reminded me about.
