sentai ladies and their animal/magical creature trend

To be perfectly honest now, I don't have any problems with this trend. It does say something to how Japan(or at least the people who make Sentai) view women, but I don't necessarily think it's bad or needs to be changed.

Well, let's be honest: What's more useful and important in an action show? Raw power and fighting ability, or nonsense about "but she's the ~heart~ of the team!" Which is bullshit. Like that's worth anything. Why do you think all Captain Planet fans laugh at Ma-Ti?

In Super sentai, female warrors are BOTH "heart of the team" and "competent fighters, who hold their own in a fight, and have superpowers"; and usually, they're as powerful as the non-Red male members of the team.

Still, "female" isn't a synonym for "loving, caring, nurturing and emotional." It would be nice if it weren't used that way. It's a pretty lame power to give any character, it basically just says "We couldn't be arsed to give this character a useful ability."

I'm sure that in some sentai series, especially those with two female rangers, there are female characters who are beyond that stereotype; contrarywise, there are some male characters who can display the "loving, caring, nurturing and emotional" pattern

(whatever), PLEASE (yeah, KR Wizard effect)

Yeah, there were.

The good thing is that there aren't really any animals associated with it. Swans, maybe (since they famously mate for life), which suits White Swan. Or kangaroos (babies) but then no Sentai has ever given a main character a kangaroo mech, and probably won't ...

And I doubt we'll ever see a male sentai warrior with a seahorse mecha (seahorse having the male carrying the eggs until they hatch)
And White Swan isn't the best example for "mating for life", given how many boyfriends she's had in Jetman

She's one of only two Sentai heroines to get married during the course of the show. That counts

Liveman had an mpreg episode, so never say never!

Then what is it a synonym of?

No Sentai has yet done that though.

And how is "heart of the team" worthless? Even boxers have some "moral" support, and they're just fighting one opponent for a match. Why shouldn't a band of superheroes, who have a much larger burden, have the same?

As far as Captain Planet is concerned, what could have replaced Heart? Lightning?

XX?

It's not really a superpower though, is it? It's just a personality trait

Maybe? Or Telepathy, since that's what it basically amounted to. I wouldn't mind seeing another Sentai hero/ine that could talk to animals

Sentai cheats a bit with elemental powers by adding stuff like Lightning, Wood, Metal, Light, Thunder, etc. to the classic earth/air/fire/water. But it's hard to pick animals for those, too ...

Yeah; but given that the other who married (Urara) had a mermaid theme, and I doubt mermaids have a reputation for mating for life.
Besides, don't forget the three male rangers who married during a show= Red Hawk, Abareblack and Magishine; in theory, that would mean that hawks, brachiosaurs and magical trains mate for life
