Favourite Super Sentai series that are animal-based

My favorite animal sentais would be Changeman and Liveman.

Jetman, best sentai in anyway imaginable.

Really? It's nowhere near best in my book, with that awful finale.

...it wasn't awful. I must be like the only one that liked it. If it was just Gai being killed off, it's not much of a reason to complain, it was a good twist. Having Gai go to his friend's wedding over being treated wasn't the smartest thing in a realistic situation, but for the story, it was good. It could have been better, but this was probably the one chance he'd have to see his friends get married, so he went there and in the end paid the price for it. I wish the series had ended with them looking up into the sunset and not have that wedding...but it's not as bad as you make it out to be.

It's not even just Gai getting killed (although that was a pretty stupid move by Inoue -- there's no problem with Gai being killed, but at least make it more meaningful). I think as Gai got ripped off by the bad writing, Radeige did, too. He was a better and more interesting villain than to be written off with a lazy and dull mecha fight.

I also didn't care for just how sudden Ryu came to accept Kaori's love, that could have been done a lot better. Ryu, who ignored Kaori for the entire series and so on, made it a point to say that he didn't like her as anything other than a teammate, just magically ends up liking her enough in the next to last episode to marry her in the finale? The way it happened just made it seem like the spoiled rich brat always gets her way and that she bought Ryu.

Gai and Raita's about the only two who ended the series being likable, IMO. Because Ako, also, who outgrew being a money-obsessed youth went back to that way by becoming an idol.

Inoue just can't write a good finale. The Changerion finale was nonsense and Agito's actually could have been handled better. And then there's Faiz and Hibiki...

And thus concludes my tenth post saying this exact same sh*t! *fanfare*

Shougo: If you want bad, watch Wild Force. You'll have a higher opinion of Gao after that.

 I used to really hate Tetsuji Tamayama until I saw his Wild Force counterpart. And my opinion of Dekaranger rose after seeing S.P.D., to tell the truth. But Wild Force did have Forever Red, which I thought was interesting. But, man, did that guy who played Red in WF suck. That would have been like having Gaoranger VS Super Sentai with Kai.

I didn't actually have a problem with Gaoranger until Silver came -- then it just ran out of steam, IMO. The stories weren't great, but the five were fun and Silver threw off their chemistry. And then the stories became too "ripped from Captain Planet" with Pootaro whining about the enviroment. Thanks for bringing back bad Gao memories.

I can't say I liked Karoi and Ryu's fling, but hell, anything could happen in three years. Ryu always seemed hung up on Rie for most of the series and with Karoi that was him probably just letting go of her and trying to find love again. Sure it could have been done better...maybe explain a little bit on what happened during those three years, but it's too late now. Does suck though, because for the longest time, Jetman was my favorite sentai but it did have some of the most awkward and seemingly forced relationships I've ever seen --but that's something I was usually willing to look beyond mainly because I loved the core cast.

For the most part, I did enjoy the endings the characters got. Gai's is a little hard to accept, but hell, he thought he was already dead no matter what happened, so might as well pay Ryu his last respects. I always liked Raita from the start, mainly due to his actor and I feel he was the one that grew the most out of the core five. Ako's ending was the biggest WTF moment of the series for me next to the whole Neo Jetman thing, this is why I've always wanted a DTV or just anything that would explain better what happened in those three years.

Inoue happens to a lot of good series, sure the writing is good at the start...but if Inoue knew that endings were a big problem, I don't see why an ending couldn't have had more thought put into it.
