Scary Movie Recommendations for this week

Forever Knight

Eye See You
Atleast one night a week I meet up with this sexy ass girl Melissa and we watch a movie or two. Now, last week we did Day & Night of the living dead. I got nothing left for this week so I was wondering what scary movie you guys think would be good to check out.

It could be a zombie shooter, masked killer, whatever. Just something to scare.

^ Is lame. It's not even a zombie movie, more like a dangerous Ebola movie. It had its moments, but to be honest I tried to watch it about 5 times and went to sleep everytime. Finally I just watched the end to see what I was missing.... not much.

I recommend the Evil Dead series. Evil Dead is a crazy frantic low-budget horror epic; Evil Dead 2 is like Evil Dead: The Remix and laced with dark humor. The worst of the trilogy is probably Army of Darkness... but it's still good. It's got Ash, it just doesn't feel like an Evil Dead movie.

Or if you're looking for something a little more along the lines of a slasher, just watch the original Halloween, or see if you can find the film The Burning. It's a Friday the 13th clone from around that era, but it's scarier and has better gore than Friday the 13th.

You're kidding me right? You have to be an idiot not to like or understand that movie, and if I had to guess. You really didn't get it at all  The Evil Dead movies really doesn't spark my interest either. I don't even know why it's known for a horror movie, but hey, it's all cool... :jam:

Wow, he's funny too!

But seriously, you'd have to be an idiot to think that 28 Days Later is a good movie when NOTHING HAPPENS IN IT. It's one of the most boring things I've ever seen and I didn't get pulled into it at all. I just didn't care. People praise it because it was shot on MiniDV (big fucking deal, lots of better movies are too, but you never hear about them), but the fact is it was boring and pretty contrived. And wtf are you even talking about not understanding it? There's nothing complicated about the plot. If you understood it my friend, I'm sure I had no problem with it.

 Dude, no need to get f*ck'n all serious  You got bored, alright I got it. By the way, who's praising a MiniDV anyways? I happen to like this movie not from what, how or where it's filmed, but the story and how it was told.

But anyways, I suggest the classics, like maybe The Exorcist or what ever. Honestly, I really don't care for the other movies since Romero's Living Dead series really are one of a kind.

When 28 Days Later was released people were creaming their jeans about how it was a film released in theaters that was shot on a MiniDV, and that was a major reason for a lot of people to actually go see it. To disguise the fact that the director didn't know how the hell to shoot an action scene, they fucked with the shutter speed and started a phenomenon that I have dubbed "gay." So maybe you didn't go see it because of the DV factor, but a lot of people did. Granted, there were some factors about it that were interesting, but they were wasted on the movie (which was boring... did I mention that yet?). I can't believe you would boast 28 Days Later and put down Evil Dead, but whatever you say chief.

Shaun, if you want more zombie goodness, you should look for the movie Brain Dead (released in the US as Dead Alive). Forget Lord of the Rings, THIS is what Peter Jackson should still be doing! It's incredibly gory, and pretty damn funny at times. It's just a blast! If you've ever wanted to see a baby put in a blender, (I know I have!) then this is one for you to check out.

Well the only Evil Dead movie I caught was the Army of Darkness movie, and I wasn't all to impressed. Perhaps I should catch the originals first, but hey it's all cool.

Anybody heard of the asian horror flick Dumplings: Three...Extremes? I heard this movie is really disturbing. Asian horror at it's finest, as someone would say. What's scary about this is this one secret ingrediant of it's dumplings, very unique if you ask me. Actually I think this movie is more of a shock value then a Horror, but still worth the look. Im not sure if it came out in the states yet

Here's the review and a clip of this movie. Pretty interesting...

Yeah, I don't like Army of Darkness nearly as much as the first two. The original is probably my favorite, but the second one is just as great.

I'm a fan of Danny Boyle's works, but I found 28 Days Later to be one of his weaker movies. Shallow Grave was scarier, and it's just a small-scale psychological flick. I hate zombie movies in general, so that didn't help much (I thought Christopher Eccelston was pretty good in it, though).

Knowing Knight's taste, he wouldn't like the classics like The Exorcist (which takes its sweet time setting things up). The Exorcist III just might be one of the most underrated movies of all time, too.

Evil Dead is a classic -- how can you not like the three of them? Sure, Army of Darkness goes for laughs more than anything else, and comes across as more of a pilot for Xena, it's still a fun movie. I can see why they took the turn they did -- sticking with the cabin would have just murdered the franchise since two was basically a repeat of one. It would have been a little bit like the Uchuu Keiji shows -- the third time you've gone through the same old crap, the more your hate for the franchise grows. At least they went out on a different and funnier note.

Anyway, I don't feel comfortable recommending anything to Knight. I think our tastes in horror are different.
