Samurai Sentai Shinkenger rumor/picture thread

If this is the reference for the Gedoushu and their junk, then I'm hungry.

Since Toei is using the Sanzu river in shinkenger. Probably means there are endless numbers of low-mid level gedoushu in the water

Upcoming episode scans, although they don't necessarily reveal anything.

I think I'm the only one on this board who is supremely unconcerned with mecha.

Sentai's my favorite of the franchises, but mecha has always been one of my least favorite aspects. The only time I can tolerate mecha is in the Bioman through Jetman run, because they only devote a mercifully brief 87 seconds for the mecha fight. Those shows realized there's more important things to focus on than the mecha, whereas the new shows think the mecha matters above all else.

But around Megaranger, the mecha scenes started getting longer. Gaoranger's the first one I noticed where they'd devote, like, five minutes to a mecha scene. Hurricanger, for one, seemed like it had entire episodes consumed with mecha fights!

I don't understand the appeal of giant battles, really. From kaijuu flicks to Ultraman to mecha. When it comes to sentai's mecha scenes, I find those fights to be impersonal. I think the original idea was the ultimate representation of the five heroes uniting as one, but they already accomplish that in the big fight that takes place -- human scale -- on the ground.

I don't hate mecha, I just find it very difficult to care about it one way or another. I can't ever remember the names of the different combinations, or anything of the sort.

I agree with that. They forgot what the mecha are there for. It's an advanced combat vehicle for use when things go pear shaped. It's a weapon for the task force that draws from it's science fiction roots , not the entire point of the show. On top of everything, escalation of the weaponry to avoid "boring the fans" has led to taking undue time for these weapons
