Resident Evil: Degeneration - Review

I've posted this around a bit so it does sound a bit odd.

Technically the movie isn't out in Japan till next week, but a rental version got ripped and posted online, so I nabbed a copy and you can find it on any good torrent tracker. Yes, the original is in English. It's coming out in America in a few weeks, but no word of a EU release. It only features Claire and Leon from RE2, but is set sometime after RE4.

The movie starts off with various TV reports of what happened after Umbrella leaked the T-virus into Raccoon City. The president resigns, Umbrella basically goes out of business, along with various other outbreaks across the world and it introduces two new companies that are jumping on the bandwagon and making a vaccine.

Then we see Claire at an airport along with a (not an actual)clone of the little brat from RE2 that she was constantly trying to help, which she repeats in the first half of the movie. A senator who has major ties to what happened with the T-virus arrives at the airport and all hell breaks loose when somehow the T-virus gets unleashed.

This introduces 2 SRT members(no idea what that stands for), that are wildly generic who are here to save the Senator. Get used to the bird because her story will be shoved down your throat unwilling in typical cheesey Capcom fashion. They are told a specialist is coming in and then enters Leon from RE2, still wearing exactly the same clothing from RE4, dirty scamp.

The movie is alright, visually at times it seems amazingly realistic and then at others, like PS1 cutscenes. It doesn't have as much zombie/action scenes as you would have thought, which is a shame, but is more based around destroying the T-virus once and for all. It is better than the other RE films put together to be honest.

Slightly spoilish things:
Claire shoots a gun about 5 times. She doesn't really do much in this film to be honest. The reveal about the brother is so "Oh well that is so unprobable it's silly". The tyrant scene is pretty cool, although I find it odd that all the bullets do nothing unless it somehow progresses the story.

Saw it last night, pretty good but nothing special. Leon was horribly wooden as ever, but I liked the Angela story. Animation was disapointing; like Leon very wooden, and felt inferior to Advent Children (in the animation nothing else). The (lack of) lip syncing was bad too.
Looks very much like RE5 anyway.

Thanks for the review. I'm still pretty excited for it just because I love the series. So there's not a Japanese language track?

There is, but the 'original' is English. All of the games have been English dialogue with Japanese subtitles. It's also kinda cool they got the original ones to do it again and also Steve Blum appears.
