The cinematography in PRESENCE was well done, and the tension-building in some scenes was genuinely effective. However, the pacing suffered. The family drama often overshadowed the horror, which made it feel like two different movies awkwardly stitched together. The performances were solid, especially from Callina Liang, but the script could have used a rewrite. I’d give it a 6/10—not terrible, but not particularly memorable either.

I watched this with my friends over the weekend, and it was just okay. Some creepy moments, but nothing that really stuck with me. I kept waiting for a big scare, and it never came. The story had potential, but I didn’t connect with the characters enough to care about what happened to them. Maybe horror fans will enjoy it more, but for me, it was just something to pass the time.

"PRESENCE" klinkt als een bovennatuurlijke thriller met een vleugje donkere humor! De slogan, "geen voorstedelijk huis is compleet zonder aanwezigheid", is zowel griezelig als vreemd grappig—het zet de toon perfect voor een film die waarschijnlijk evenveel griezelig en vermakelijk is.



De Paynes lijken allesbehalve uw typische familie, ondanks de voorstedelijke omgeving. Rebekah, de moeder, een dief zijn die financiële fraude pleegt? Dat is al een plotlijn op zich! En met elk gezinslid met zijn eigen "problemen", klinkt kom meer te weten het alsof de poltergeist misschien niet eens het meest chaotische ding in het huis is.



Het idee om bovennatuurlijke elementen te mengen met het drama van een disfunctionele familie is intrigerend—het is alsof de geest gewoon de kers is op hun al rommelige leven. En nu het wordt gestreamd op Amazon Prime Video en binnenkort op Hulu, is het zeker de moeite waard om te bekijken voor fans van thrillers met een kant van familiedrama. Perfect voor een spookachtige filmavond!
