Power Stagnant: How to Keep PR Fresh

I know many people don't agree with me and think Sentai and PR are fine as they are, and we can't do anything about it because that's just how it goes. However, for those few of us with some shred of hope; who believe that the series should come before the marketing, I created this thread.

What would you do for a PR season to keep it fresh. How do we as a fandom who might one day influence the show make it so that the tropes and steriotypes that have begun to dictate the plot of these shows don't outright rob the story of creativity? How do we keep PR from being a 30 episode, 25 minute toy commercial?

Some of the tropes I've come to associate with PR:

-Merchandise Driven - Nothing can be done about this completly. The toys are a part of the show. The trick is how to get the show to stop lettin the toys dictate the plot

-They seem to be losing the concept of a multinational team which can be a double edged sword. I think they need to put thought into how to incorporate it, without making it gratuitous.

I know most of you don't agree with me, but I'm fucking tired of sixth rangers. Oh my god, how tired I am! The addition of new rangers and zords has become obligatory to the point of making the rangers incompetant. How impressed are you really that the rangers get a special new weapon to solve a problem, instead of having to rely on their own wits or abilities?

Now I know the toy companies like selling toys of other rangers and zords. Wanna do that, just do what PR used to do, destroy old powers and give them to existing rangers. That way, characters can appear even cooler.

On that same note... do we need a Megazord every year?! For the love of god, the parade of megazords and artillerly bots has actually become boring. The jungle pride megazord and the mechs from the upcoming PR RPM are so unimaginative that I seriously have to ask if PLEX is even trying. I've held the belief for a while now that PR needs to take a break from megazords for a year or two and work on how to make the rangers interesting without using the draw of a tacked on mech fight to draw in ratings.

Now that I've said my piece, feel free to throw in your ideas for how to keep the franchise minty fresh

somehow i think it's pointless too. besides when i was kid i used to love those things, and you tanuki? so basicly i think i don't think kids would like that if they change it.

Why are you posting here, just to bash on a thread to encourage an exchange of ideas? I made this thread so I would stop trying to start this conversation in other threads where you guys shoot me down. If you can't find anything constructive to teh argument, don't post.

As to your comment Blue Ranger. Power Rangers is Power Rangers, zords or no zords. Do you want to know why? Because they're two completely different shows! Power Rangers isn't even Sentai. They could have translated Beetleborgs as part of PR and it would have still been PR because it had that narritive style.

The suits and tools don't make PR PR; what makes PR what it is is the concept of young people banding together in a bright shiny universe to fight evil using martial arts and special weapons. Kamen rider doesn't work in the concept of a team dynamic, does not make use of mentor characters, and is mostly not a bright shiny universe. Your post fails to take in the most basic concepts of PR.

I wasn't watching Green With Evil for the fucking zord fights, I was watching it for the coolness that was the extra ranger. When Tommy came back as the white ranger it was epic, when the gold ranger was around, I was creaming... but somewhere in there, it stopped being exiting. In fact, it became almost obligatory that halfway through the show, a new ranger was going to show up. Nowadays, it's just boring. I feel nothing when a new ranger shows up halfway through. It's become obligatory, and that hurts the show more than you realize

No Megazords = a rip in Merchandise. But i do see your point but Disney is scared to do something like that because it's a risk that could make it or break it. Example: If KRDK becomes a hit adapting Hibiki is a big risk on a young series. I know PR isn't young but it is a risk.

If they got rid of the zords, they would be getting rid of the one part of the show that they really use the Sentai footage for anymore.

I can't see thm doing that.

Disney will be making a alot of money on next years toyline of Megazords alone. But if Megazords would ever be cut out of a season Sentai would attempt it first.
