Power Rangers MegaForce, Ep 08 - "Robo Knight"

Also Captain Planet called and he want's his blunt heavy handed anti-pollution message back Megaforce, cause your not cool enough to use it.

Oh Megaforce you've gone from just shitty to laughably shitty.
Was Goseiger good enough cause they used the **** out of it.
Dude! Knight footage goes with everything!

Also just now noticing this line but I don't ever want to see someones "slithery slathery slime." Ever.

Alrighty then. I just saw this episode. I like coming here, but at the same time sometimes I feel like I'm in bizarro world. This ep was fine, in fact I'd say so far PRMF haven't had a misstep of an episode yet. Gosei's explanation seemed good enough for me. I don't expect the world out of a children's show, and sorry but as much as I like PR and have grown up with PR, that's what it is. That, and essentially a toy commercial to varying degrees, to push the PR toys I see at Walmart and Target and Toys R' Us. That PRMF even did that much, give a last minute explanation for RoboKnight that could plausibly fit with what we already know about PRMF is a blessing in and of it itself. It could have easily been "Well he's here now, buy the toys and the mask!" but nope, they didn't go that route.

And the Troy hate continues. I just find it very ironic. I don't remember any comments directed toward Jayden, at least to this degree, when simply watching him and his cue-card-reading acting and his annoying bowl cut felt like torture to the point I couldn't even continue Samurai. Troy has problems but he hasn't been that bad to the point where I said "Screw it, I'll just catch the next version of PR whenever it comes out". To me Troy will always be the lesser of two evils, and while he's not going to win any Oscars he doesn't pull me right out of the show or storylines like Jayden did.

Disney's casting was on point for the first 3 seasons, and was still ok after that, yes; but they incredibly lazy in terms of overall quality after SPD. Sounds were reused, bgm was reused, battleizers were stranger and forced, random bikes were given to a random ranger for a random reason, exploding boxes, crummy NZ weather (which surprisingly has been better with Samurai and Megaforce. Though, if im not mistaken Saban made it a point to shoot in better locations) limited amount of locations, reused locations, fast forwarded morphs, wire-fu, long winded fight scenes, lack of characterization...there was a lot bro.

Interesting. Well I never had a problem with the casting for the entirety of Disney's tenure. I hated Jungle Fury (though in retrospect it wasn't that bad) but I didn't hate the casting. As for the things you mentioned, I never noticed them so they didn't affect me, but I guess I can understand if others noticed and even looked for said things. Though when I say Disney went overboard at times, I have to question if it was necessary for some of the shows to have the trappings it did. For instance, did PRSPD have to take place 20 years in the future? RPM, while super awesome and easily in my top 3 of PR shows, did it have to take place in a Mad Max type setting? Otherwise, I didn't notice.

I enjoy PR for what it is, as well. But it's very hard not to expect more from it when it has given us more in the past.

As for the episode, it was alright but I'm starting to lose interest. I laughed when RoboKnight snubbed Red Ranger at the end. Good stuff. The problem I have though is that, Troy didn't exactly go "hey its the dude from my dreams" like he should have. I really hope they address it as a show of some effort on the writer's part.

Finally saw Robo Knight's debut episode. Final thoughts....:meh:
I think I still to just finishing Mega Force with this season and see how far Robo Knight will succeed until his "unexpected departure".

I love welcome surprises myself (see the ENTIRETY of RPM), but its not expected, at least on my part, because, again, its a children's show. Now, we do know Saban has it in him (In Space), and why he chooses not to go to that well again is anyone's guess (heck, maybe he's lost it?), but for the audience its actually aimed at, eh, it could be much much worse.

Honestly I feel like this is the disconnect. In any other show, of course there should be continuity like how you're describing. But, again, for a children's show, when so many other things could go wrong storywise, that they didn't address Troy mentioning that, while accurate, isn't exactly a dealbreaker. At least to the kids watching it. The point of the ep, IMO, was to put RoboKnight in the minds of kids so they'll bug their parents about him (well it) next time they go to a place that sells PR toys.

The Difference is that Jayden's whole team was bad at acting where as Troy sticks out like a sore thumb as his team is competent at acting.
That and after like 3 or 4 episodes of Samurai I couldn't force myself to keep watching it

Also it is getting really annoying that this show is pretty much all fighting like it feels like less then 10 mins are spent on a "story" while the rest is incoherent fighting, tho this episode, other than the random joining of RoboKnight, actually fit this episode unlike the last one

It's kind of good that you haven't noticed much of what I/we have. At least you've enjoyed what you watched for the most part. I critique on a power ranger level, but also on just an overall show/film level; and in the past PR has made mistakes that can't just be excused because "it's Power Rangers", when the problems are in fact deeper than that from just a TV show point of view. There are somethings you just don't **** up with when in this industry, especially in a franchise of it's stature. Inexcusable.

Fair enough, though personally while I agree in theory, I'd say they were all bad but in varying degrees. Had Jayden not been the worse I probably would have hung in there. Kevin seemed nervous, and I can understand that so that's probably why I cut him some slack (again, I was alone in THAT department as well  ). Mike hammed it up but consistently got better as the show went along. Actually, in retrospect Antonio wasn't that bad, either.

I gave it the college try, as they say, myself, but...yeah couldn't keep watching either. At some point I'll see the final episode, I'm sure.

Mileage varies on this one as I don't mind, but I can see how some people might.
