Kanji is rarely used anymore, because I figure it is simpler and faster to use Katakana and hiragana than Kanji, which is based primarily on Chinese characters. It is only used in Japanese games and media for ancient themed stuff like samurai .

Well, pokemon doesnt use kanji,
but other games do >_>
like Kingdom hearts 358/2 days and Eyeshield 21.
I think it depends on the target audience.

But, I've only played a few japanese games so I'm just stating kanji is used in games >_>

Sorry for the double post.

Here's a bit of news:
The official Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver website was updated and an official release date for the games was announced. They will be on sale in Japan starting September 12th, '09 for ¥4800 (about $50). Pre-orders begin July 4th.

So unless Nintendo in the US gets a release date close to this, Im gonna pre-order SoulSilver.
