Peter Parker....YOU'RE FIRED!!

Saw that a few minutes ago. Poor Peter can't catch a break just because Marvel wants to be "topical". It'd be more interesting if they picked a character who isn't usually broke.

...I'd say Tony Stark, but the guy has spent most of a year with his IQ continually dropping. I think that's about enough for him.

for some reasons I thought Parker was always freelance, then again admittedly Spider-Man is one of the comics I follow least.

Wait a minute...isn't Jonah supposed to be the mayor of NY now? And didn't the Daily Bugle get turned into some tabloid rag or something?
Jonah is still the mayor of NYC. He hired Peter to be his personal/official photographer.

The Daily Bugle (or The DB!, when it became a sensationalist tabloid) is now gone. It was destroyed by Electro recently. Since the paper was failing financially and its last owner, Dexter, is bankrupt, there is no money left to rebuild it.

This looks like an interesting story arc, though. Spider-Man's always been good for handling this sort of topical storytelling, and in a soft economy freelancers tend to be the first part of the budget to evaporate.

(I lost freelance status at a couple places in 2008, but got it back later.)

People still think a "poor Peter Parker" is frickin' relevant? It's just about the most boring character development he' ever goes through, and is completly seperate from the realitys surrounding his character in the past. The small comfort is all of this isnt true to the "proper" state of reality, so following it really is pointless.

then again admittedly Spider-Man is one of the comics I follow least

Beleive it or not, **** like this is why most Spider-Man fans will be the first to say the exact same thing as you.
