Overrated and underrated sentai series

The counterpoint to that would be Timeranger, which had nowhere near the glut of toys you'd get, and yet that story had probably the slowest progression of any of her shows.

Gokaiger - Ok, Some people must love riding Marvelous's Dick or something cause This show was pretty disappointing to me and doesn't really deserve all the praise it gets, Possibly the only thing i liked out of it was Luka and seeing some legends, But that still didn't help the fact that the show was rather stale.
The fights were fun, the characters were all very distinctive, the tributes were mostly excellent, and it had a great epic adventurous tone that stayed throughout the entire series. Yes the bad guys were a bit ****, yes the Gokaigers were incredibly overpowered, and yes its a little fanfic-y; but, so was Decade which tried to do a lot of the same and by comparison Gokaiger looks like Schindler's List.

While gokaiger isn't perfect i would definitely argue it did far more right than it did wrong. I dunno I feel like this series just had a whole lot of "it" that same thing you feel/see/hear when you first booted up Ocarina of Time as a kid. That sense of adventure and wonder and all that feelgood ****. I'm not saying Gokaiger is on par with OOT but i am saying they both have heaping helpings of "it".

Gingaman: This one had that whole stupid rumor about Lost Galaxy getting better ratings over in Japan, not to mention people being dismissive over the acorn fairy who actually gets very little screen time all told.
Ive only seen up to ep 7 in Gingaman but i really enjoyed it despite not liking the designs for just about everything in the series, which is weird as designs tend to affect my opinions quite a bit.

Abaranger- Despite a lot of silliness, has one of the best storylines and set of villains (especially Jeanne) that few people seem to know about.
As long as your not counting the MOTW cuz those were absolutely stupid did anyone really think they were going to get an effective monster by fusing a donkey, a vacuum, and a pomegranate together?

Also sidenote: Timeranger is fuckin gem

since how the other villains themselves (namely Voffa and Jannu) mock Mikela's creations, I think their ridiculousness was intentional; like how the Carranger monsters look mostly like idiots as well, lol

Most overrated in my opinion-

Goukaiger - Ok, Some people must love riding Marvelous's Dick or something cause This show was pretty disappointing to me and doesn't really deserve all the praise it gets, Possibly the only thing i liked out of it was Luka and seeing some legends, But that still didn't help the fact that the show was rather stale..

The problem here is that you make it very clear you hate Gokaiger, but you don't seem to grasp that just because you don't like it doesn't mean people were riding a characters dick. Those people just found things in it to like that you didn't. And there is no "fact" about it being stale.

im with you there ShinkenTen, though i think its because it drags a little between and after the Ushi Origami, i didn't have this problem myself but i know alot of people think it drags.

It doesn't make any sense to stop the plot to develop characters. It's easier to develop characters when there's big plot events going on around them. Without a plot, characters don't have anything that can affect them as people and prompt interesting reactions or significant changes.

Remember that both Shinkenger and OOO introduce new characters during their lull periods (Genta and Date, respectively). I'd say there is a tendency, after introducing a mid-season addition character, to let other members of the cast idle in neutral until it's time to start the show's endgame.

Masato and J were introduced a couple of episodes earlier than the usual Sixths, just as the show is starting its second arc, with no lull yet. I'm hoping this bodes well for the rest of Go-Busters rather than leading to another endless drag that's not even enlivened by the addition of new characters ...

It was intentionally ridiculous, but I thought it was quite creative and fun, as did Mikela (since he was supposed to be an artist.) For me, it added to the charm of Abaranger.

- For some reason, I fear that Go-Busters's plot is gonna drag; unless they go into the hyperspace, they have no way to directly fight Enter, and it seems that there are no new plot (besides, look how long Enter's new weapon took time to appear). Of course, I can be wrong, but unless they bring us at least one new villain, I fear a big plot stalling.
-About the Trinoids; I agree (especially, since Yatsudenwani is one of them, lol)

My inner nerd is squeaking at the thought of Busters eventually taking a mecha battle to the hyperspace. They better do that.

I suspect a major culprit in Kobayashi's mid-season lulls is the sheer quantity of toys a modern tokusatsu has to support. I think Kobayashi sometimes just establishes the foundation of her plot, then kills time until all the toy introductions are over. Both Shinkenger and OOO rapidly accelerate their plot movement right after the final Q4 toys are introduced.

I haven't seen OOO so I won't comment on that series. With Shinkenger I do agree that a major problem of the pacing was toy sales. However, Kobayashi has had her slow points even without the toy sales. Most of the first half of Timeranger was guilty of this (and guilty of my original point), and Go-Busters has been guilty so far as well. Prime example, having some good characterization episodes like the episode with Hiromu and his sister, meanwhile taking 10 episodes before we finally know what happens to the Buster Machine that Enter had stole the designs for. My point is not that Kobayashi intentionally stalls the plot for character development, but that she sometimes puts in a lot of effort for characterization while forgetting about plot pacing.

My only gripe about Gokaiger is the rather incompetent set of villains that, apart from Barizorg/Sid and Basco, didn't seem to be much of a challenge to the Gokaigers at all. Yes, the Gokaigers are basically the strongest sentai team ever given their access to previous teams' powers, but you'd think the threat that caused the 34 previous squads to commit such a sacrifice would be a bit more of a hassle to the Gokaigers. Other than that I found it to be an enjoyable series. I very much liked all of the rangers, especially the conflicts surrounding Joe and Barizorg, and Marvelous and Basco.

As far as being overrated/underrated, I don't see it tossed in with the usual best (Jet, Dai, Live, etc.) or the usual worst (Five, Gosei, Go-On, etc.) threads that pop up on toku boards.
