Over-Time vs Tv-Nihon: Which one do you prefer?

From what I've experienced, TV Nihon are mighty fine!!

But to be honest, I really don't care about fansub groups. Just the shows that I'm going to watch (English subbed or RAW).

Recently I've been mostly downloading episodes of Kamen Rider Fourze in RAW. I can only partially understand what they're saying in Japanese, I'm still doing my Japanese evening classes.

I couldn't be bothered downloading subbed episodes of Fourze from TV Nihon nor Overtime, mainly due to laziness, but judging from what I've experienced TV Nihon are better in terms of video quality, while one episode of Fourze I downloaded from Overtime seems a bit on the pixellated side.

And all I have left to say is.. keep up the good work and have a nice day!! :D

Are you sure it's not your player?

Yeah, if you're experiencing pixellation from the O-T (or Aesir) Fourze, then you probably need to update your codecs or player. We recently started using 10-bit encodes with Fourze, which allows better quality at lower filesizes but does mean you need to update your playback setup.

The latest CCCP will fix that no problem.

It is an unfortunate thing that trying to play back a 10-bit encode in a player that doesn't support 10-bit will introduce small little errors and glitches like pixellation and weird color saturation without directly breaking it, which does seem to make people think the fault lies in the encode. I assure you however that they are fine.

Doesn't toku do that in general? :P

Oh yeah, totally. I don't mean to single out Shinkenger as especially goofy.

It's just... if the translation doesn't acknowledge the puns, people won't know they're there, and they'll tend to take everything at face value.

That's a pretty good point. So, the bottom line is which the individual values more, literal consistency, or the spirit and meaning of the original material.

Reminds me of that Hurricanger tribute episode. The puns would have just simply lost their meaning if they were explained. Since O-T rewrote entire jokes into English, though definitely not comedy gold, and it gave out that cheese the original was trying to portray.

I prefer Over-Time, because I like to be able to watch shows without a Japanese dictionary at the ready.

Ironically the last time this happened It was "Chaksou" (Or however you spell it) in Rescue Fire, which Ignis from O-T was able to explain meant something along the lines of 'Equip' via Twitter.

^Or you could just look up and the explanation above the screen.

You can download a raw but downloading a raw and a script(which doesn't even take time to load) it just blows your mind?

He's deliberately shitposting to try and get the thread locked. Just a note to the mods, please don't lock the thread on his account.

Anyway, it'd be biased of me to start singing the praises of O-T from the rooftops, but I think T-N definitely has their place. If people enjoy their translation style, like their effects, want HD hardsubs, or just want a more literal style that helps them understand if English isn't their first language - then I don't see why the Over-Time Defense Force has to somehow leap on and act like TV-Nihon are some blight upon the face of the world.

People often seem to act like there's some kind of corners that must be taken, because this is some kind of glorious fight for victory against an oppressive evil force or something. Alternatively, both sides are just a bunch of people who like making fansubs. Calm down. Relax. If there's any kind of conflict going on here, it's between the 'fans' of one side who choose to make one, not because of any ill intent between the two sides.

Edit: Or people like Frumix, who apparently seem to enjoy stirring up conflict for no reason.
You're one of the TV-N guys with white colored names, right.

Who are Over-Time and Tv-Nihon??? :169:

They both are the Century Kings who competes against each other to claim the title of the Creation King.
