Over-Time vs Tv-Nihon: Which one do you prefer?

over-time's SD videos have better picture quality IMO. however, tv-nihon uses effects which over-time does not. they're all good in their own way.

their HD encode is better too
one thing that bothers me is their questionable choices when translating names
other than that O-T rocks.

There was already a warning not to do this, and already, you're doing it. Shut up.

He's deliberately shitposting to try and get the thread locked. Just a note to the mods, please don't lock the thread on his account.

Anyway, it'd be biased of me to start singing the praises of O-T from the rooftops, but I think T-N definitely has their place. If people enjoy their translation style, like their effects, want HD hardsubs, or just want a more literal style that helps them understand if English isn't their first language - then I don't see why the Over-Time Defense Force has to somehow leap on and act like TV-Nihon are some blight upon the face of the world.

People often seem to act like there's some kind of corners that must be taken, because this is some kind of glorious fight for victory against an oppressive evil force or something. Alternatively, both sides are just a bunch of people who like making fansubs. Calm down. Relax. If there's any kind of conflict going on here, it's between the 'fans' of one side who choose to make one, not because of any ill intent between the two sides.

Edit: Or people like Frumix, who apparently seem to enjoy stirring up conflict for no reason.

Hear, hear. It's all a matter of stylistics anyway (and I personally prefer watching fast subs anyway, but hey).

In this situation i will take guis fan subs ,because they do correct subs and have no excessive pride about that, even if they are a bitlate about gokaiger, i think i can wait as changeman is well progressing.

Visiting overtime blog, i realize the man has renamed the show "pirate sentai gokaiger".

While i myself dont understand the meaning of team names, i prefer watching the original title, with possibly a translation between bracket.

It's fairly obvious whose release I prefer, but this post is bugging the crap out of me for reasons unrelated to the thread title flamebait thing:

GUIS isn't doing Changeman so I have no idea what they have to do with any of this post.

If you're complaining about us translating Kaizoku to Pirate, why are you then in support of GUIS who not only do the same, but go on to translate Sentai as well? I mean don't get me wrong, if you prefer them anyway, or prefer that, I don't actually care, but explicitly mentioning a thing as a negative and then praising the same thing seems bizarre.

Finally, who is "the man"?

The rest of you, carry on with the rest of this fairly tired argument wherein nobody actually convinces anybody of anything because everybody is convinced that he is objectively right and anybody who disagrees just doesn't get it.

One thing I like about O-T's subs is when you notice that it isn't the literal translation, and you appreciate how they took the effort to make it sound more like conversational English. Don't like how they do the same for proper names, though. Pirate was sorta fine, but Invocation felt out of place, and the Goonger names really were a mess.

Plus, the speed sometimes leaves some hiccup errors in, like a missing short word or two. That's not unique to O-T, though.

For those with a background in anime, TVN's subs may be a better choice for transition, as the style is pretty similar. I don't have a problem with honorifics, but I feel it's kind of lazy leaving the -tachi's in. I've tried my hand at that before, and the decision on which English equivalent to use is not an easy one.

Not a fan of hardsubs, too, but the karaoke effects add a degree of creativity.

Had just been looking on /m/ see the random OP raging at O-T etc. etc.

Then opens up HJU and see this.

You have to think that not all teams have 20 or more people working for them, so if a little team makes more mistakes than a big one, thats logic.

Making wrong translations and mistakes can happen to everyone, but i think most of team are able to admit when they do make mistakes and to correct them.

Regarding tvn, they sub both animes and sentais, and i think this is a problem for the progression of their work, because they give priority to modern shows, and older ones are just stuck(dairanger and megaranger are far from being completed.

Rather than blaming them directly, i think they should focus on a reduced amount of shows, and admit they target at young people's audience.

While they are the most advanced for gokaiger speed of subbing, some projects are desperately dead, and this is a problem, because of a rule that makes that when a team subs something, other teams dont work on same project, and thus this stops everything.
