OMFG!!! Power Rangers is JAPANESE?!?!

i wasnt surprised they (power rangers) reshot most of the dialogue and combat scenes using western actors. already knew sentai before even power rangers came out due to exposure to jap stuff early (changeman, dynaman, bioman, maskman, masked rider black, and shaider). i basically recognized the story and action patterns.

That's because PR decided to use the source material and carve it's own identity out of what was used so it would have appeal if it aired back in Japan when syndicated worldwide (which it did), Something tons of dubs for anime can say that have never been able to do, except maybe Samurai Pizza Cats

I wasn't surprised that PR is japanese i suspected it, but was badly surprised when i 1st saw a PR episode.

Some super Sentaî were allready aired and dubbed on french TV (Bioman, Maskman, Flashman, Liveman, Jetman)

I thought, "what the heck is that crap ? americans trying to copy (in a bad way) the japanese shows !!"

later i discovered the terrible masked rider, and later agains the horrible VR troopers (whicch is no match to Spielvan and Metalder who both aired before in France) then i stoped believing in american counterfacts after seeing the big (extremly) bad Beetleborgs show.

I love it when Tokastu loyalists fail to "get" what Saban were doing. It's sheer joy. Sheer-Joy.

I originally found out around the time of the MMPR movie, all my American dreams were broken. Then I saw the Abaranger episode of DinoThunder yesterday and it made me feel kind of sick, it just felt like they were trying to mock toku fans and claim they were doing as good if not a better job.

I found out on Wikipedia, late last year. I watched MMPR-In Space when they first came out, but then stopped watching and hated Power Rangers. Suddenly I saw the first episode of In Space on PR Generations and became a fanboy again. Boredom led to reading about the series I missed out on, on Wikipedia... and then I got high speed internet, so I found some torrents for some Tv-Nihon subs... and that, as they say, is that.

I found out about the Super Sentai, during the first run of Power Rangers SPD. I saw this website that did not give a lot of details about the Sentai, until Youtube came along.
