OMFG!!! Power Rangers is JAPANESE?!?!

I love it when Tokastu loyalists fail to "get" what Saban were doing. It's sheer joy. Sheer-Joy.

and how could it have been different ?

in my case, some great japanese shows aired before their american counterpart which were clearly not as good as the original shows.

Is this thread still popular?

I wasn't surprised that PR is japanese i suspected it, but was badly surprised when i 1st saw a PR episode.

Some super Sentaî were allready aired and dubbed on french TV (Bioman, Maskman, Flashman, Liveman, Jetman)

I thought, "what the heck is that crap ? americans trying to copy (in a bad way) the japanese shows !!"

later i discovered the terrible masked rider, and later agains the horrible VR troopers (whicch is no match to Spielvan and Metalder who both aired before in France) then i stoped believing in american counterfacts after seeing the big (extremly) bad Beetleborgs show.

I love it when whenever a Tokusatsu fan posts negative opinions about Power Rangers and their spinoffs, someone has appear and post rubbish like what Skyknight posted. It's sheer fricking joy.

People ARE ALLOWED to not like Power Rangers y'know. Even if they "get" what Saban were trying to do that doesn't mean they are forced to like them.

I love VR Troopers, and Serapho thinks VR Troopers are "horrible" and "no match for Spielban and Metalder". Good for him, he's allowed to hate VR Troopers. Come to think about it, I like Spielban and Metalder too, and I'm hoping sometime I'll get the Spielban DVDs.

Meanwhile, I think this thread is slowly encouraging something we could do a lot less of. JFC, where are your babes when we need them?!!!!!

When I was a kid and lived in the Philippines the channels I watched showed old Toku shows like Maskman, Bioman, Kamen Rider Black, Ultraman, Jetman, Shaider Fiveman, Jiban, and there's more but I can't remember. So when they showed Power Rangers I already figured itt out. :)

when i was twelve i was on a vacation in indonesia. the first time i saw real sentai footage was back then when the indonesian television broadcast kakuranger.

But it was a year later when i got the internet(finaly after 7 years) that i found out that it was originaly japanese.

After that the first season i saw was abaranger.

And know i am a kamen rider fan.

To Be Honest

to be honest I didnt find out until a few years ago well O.o cant rember how many years it was but it was when Power Rangers Ninja Storm first aired on Fox Kids UK, up until that point I had gone out of power rangers (for the 2nd time) and my best friend slept over and we thought okay lets see what its like nowerdays (the last season I had seen before this was Lost Galaxy) and during the speedy end credits I read 'based on the japanese series Hurrican Rangers' so a few google searches later and voila and since then I have became a fan of kamen rider, ryukendo and I am tempted to watch ultraman.

Although when I was a kid I couldnt understand why there was always Japanese people running away from the Dragonzord, and I also couldnt grasp why the Green Ranger looked so shockingly different one minute then looking so cool and right another. I also didnt understand how come the suits became more shiny when in battle against when they where in the command center so I guess I always had my speculations against it.

The first sentai thing I watched was Hurricanger vs Gaoranger, I seemed to watch alot of the team up movies before finally watching a complete sereis (my first was Abaranger and is still my favorite sentai even if it is crappy HK)

I've still not managed to watch any HK subs, when they spelt abaranger three different ways in the intro it kind of put me off.

Wow

I'm suprised that some people didn't know it was a japanese show. I never knew what super sentai was back then but saban and fox never kept it a secret that it was a japanese show if anything they were the one's who told us all about it. Everyone I grew up with watching the show knew it was japanese we even made fun of the small details like trini the yellow ranger not having a skirt or the green ranger's sheild in some seens looked cheap. Stuff like that.

I grew up a Godzilla Fan,still am,anyways Power Rangers came along and it was like crack! I saw the Dragon Zord and thought it looked like Godzilla alot, espeacaily when Tommy first summoned it and ordered it to rampage. my tiny human brain put two and two together, but it wasen't until this asian guy who used to work at the local Hello Kitty store(The asian guy,who i regret never remembering his name, was like an uncle to me but thats another story) he told me it was from japan and inported for me Dairanger toys, thanks to him i was the most popular kid in my neighborhood!

No, I'm not that dense...Anymore XD Anyways, wondering how everyone found out that power rangers was Japanese?

Was browsing websites for Sailormoon stuff backkkkkk when I had 56k and still was using my parents computer. Stumbled over the Japanese Toei site -- ended up looking at Timeranger stuff. Discovered Power Rangers was Japanese, or well, there was a "Japanese" version of Power Rangers.
