Official Blu-Ray Discussion Thread

Is it just me, or are they gearing up to abolish DVDs in the near future? Out of nowhere, we're having a **** load of new Blueray releases of popular old films, plus, I was at Walmart last week getting Pirates 4 & Green Lantern- Green Lantern, brand new, was $15 & they didn't even have Pirates 4 on DVD, just Blueray!

Not that I have anything against Blueray, it's just that anything that plays Blueray also plays DVD, DVD is more cost effective &, unless you have this amazing home theatre system with a million inch screen and surround sound, there really isn't much of a differance between the two anyway.

I just thought they'd keep DVD around as a more cost effective route for collectors who didn't want to shell out a lot of money for their films...
