[Anime] Next Mech-Anime to watch?

So I finished Turn A Gundam after comparison's of Build Fighters' Star Build Strike had a similar "powerup"? mode, wasn't bad, but reignited my want to watch shows with giant robots fighting and blowing stuff up, it's my fave thing in the world!

I've been rewatching Valvrave, Code Geass, Majority of the Gundam Series, have seen all of Macross and else, same goes with transformers (more US, not really what I'm looking for), Aquarion & Aquarion EVOL, and probably some others that I've seen that I just don't remember, but those give a sort of idea of what types I like to watch, so I'm asking y'all if there are any others for me to go see.

Knights of Sidonia looks kinda interesting...

Wrong forum.

But anyway, seems you're into more serious stuff. I personally am not into it, so I can only suggest Patlabor or the Full Metal Panic Series!. If old stuff (90s) doesn't bother you, I also suggest Magic Knight Rayearth or Vision of Escaflowne (both magic robot series).

For less serious series (because this is where giant robots blowing stuff up really shines) I suggest Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, GaoGaiGar (starts very simple but gets a lot better), Vandread. For older ones Martian Successor Nadesico.

There's also Eureka 7 (which I haven't seen yet).

Sorry, wasn't sure which forum to really post it in. Anyone care to move it?

Oh! Escaflowne! Saw it, loved it. and I've seen GaoGaiGar and Patlabor, not bad. I think I was put off by Gurren Lagann because of the ridiculousness of the mech, and just couldn't get past it. Thanks though for the suggestions!

Wrong forum.
Indeed.

THREAD PUNT.

You've been a member here since 2008. You're really saying that it never occurred to you that a thread about anime should probably be put in the "GEEKSTATION" subforum here which has been set for stuff like anime?
:eyebrow:

And before you say "I don't know where the anime section is", it is the same subforum where you have been posting in some "Gundam" themed threads.

It's happened plenty of times before, so the next time you goof and mistakenly put a thread in the wrong subforum, just admit that you've goofed and put a thread in the wrong subforum. Trust me, many a member here has had the odd brainfart now and then.

I don't look at forums, I just go to "new posts" and go from there (which is why I've been asking about the error when trying to mark "all posts as read" link, so yes, I made a mistake and don't pay attention, happy now? Sheesh.

Started Buddy Complex last night, it's not bad, thanks to whoever suggested it,

I don't look at forums
You really should. Even if it's only once in a while, familiarizing yourself with the overall layout of a forum will help and does help a lot in terms of being able to see the proper places to put threads.

What's Turn A like? Does it require any knowledge of the other Gundam shows? I decided to start from the beginning with the original series but the endless bleakness is starting to kill off my enthusiasm. I've heard Turn A isn't as pessimistic?

You can watch Turn A as a stand alone just fine.

It does not, you can watch it as a stand alone, there are only a few brief flashback moments of previous series but it won't spoil anything for you. and yeah, it's more optimistic I guess...according to wiki anyways. Well, more "happy than Victory Gundam was"

The AU Gundams that are war series:
Turn A
After War Gundam X
Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Gundam Wing
Gundam SEED/Destiny
Gundam 00
Gundam AGE
They're generally not as bleak as the original MSG, but they're war stories so there are some sad themes through them. They're all stand-alone.

Turn A is steam-punkish at the start, and has sort of a retro-feel, but is feel good mostly. Gundam X is full of likeable characters with a simple story. G Gundam has shounen hot-bloodedness all throughout so if you're used to battle shounen, I'd suggest that. Wing, SEED, and 00 are mostly super pilots in super robots, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. AGE is a story of 3 generations of gundam pilots.

All of them start with young boys thrust into war in a mobile suit that's better than mostly anything else around them.
