The trailer for Twisted Metal Season 2 that Peacock released today isn’t the first, but it is the one that finally dropped the crucial bit of information all the other trailers have strategically hid. Until now they wouldn’t let us see the master of ceremonies behind the Twisted Metal tournament the series is named after. This one gets it over with in the first three seconds: meet Calypso.

If you never saw the first season of Twisted Metal, you should rectify that quickly before the second arrives — it is a lot of fun and you won’t regret it. Season One is mostly setup for Season Two, establishing the characters and their relationship to each other, but they’re written so well that you don’t mind the stalling. Besides, we’re guaranteed a Season Two in which there will be actual car combat, and lots of it. I'm really interested to see how Anthony Carrigan plays Calypso. He was great in Barry, so I have no doubt he’ll bring something unique to this character. In the original games, Calypso was always this mysterious, manipulative figure who granted twisted wishes. The fact that they kept him hidden until now tells me they want to make his reveal impactful. I liked Season One overall, though it was slower than I expected. It focused more on the characters and their dynamic, especially John and Quiet, but I think that worked in its favor. They built a weird world with its own logic. It made the action feel earned. I’m hoping Season Two doesn’t just go full action and forget the story. Sweet Tooth already stole most scenes in Season One, so I wonder how he fits now that it’s all about the tournament. The concept of winning your dream through destruction fits the franchise, but I also hope they dive into what people actually wish for. That was always the creepy part of Twisted Metal for me—what people really wanted.

I’ve been waiting for Calypso to finally show up! That’s the missing piece from Season One. I actually enjoyed the first season a lot. Sure, it didn’t have much actual tournament stuff, but I liked the characters. John and Quiet had really good chemistry, and Sweet Tooth was surprisingly fun. The world felt messed up in a good way. I grew up playing the games, especially Twisted Metal 2, and I remember Calypso as the one pulling all the strings. It’s cool to see Anthony Carrigan get the role, he’s got that creepy charm for it. I just hope Season Two leans hard into the tournament and shows different drivers with their own twisted stories. That’s what made the games awesome. The wishes, the irony, the chaos, it all needs to be there. I’ll definitely be watching on day one. Finally, it feels like the real Twisted Metal is about to begin.

I thought Anthony Mackie was fun to watch. The scenes with Sweet Tooth were my favorite though. He was weird but also scary. Now that the second season will have the tournament, I hope it brings more excitement. If the show does this part right, it could really elevate the series. Season One was okay. The tone was strange, like it didn’t know if it wanted to be serious or a joke. But Mackie and Beatriz did a good job holding it together. Sweet Tooth was... a choice. Funny at times, but almost too much. Now with the tournament finally starting, we might get new drivers, new backstories, and more dark humor. I also want to see how the show handles the wish system. Will we get tragic endings like the games, or will it be more hopeful? Either way, I’m glad they’re finally giving us the core of what makes Twisted Metal more than just explosions. Wow, they finally remembered this show is based on a car combat game. Season One had so much talking I forgot what I signed up for. I like Anthony Mackie, don’t get me wrong, but the story dragged. Quiet was fine, Sweet Tooth was a fever dream, and the world felt like Mad Max meets Saturday morning cartoons. Now they throw Calypso at us like it’s a big deal. I guess it is if you played the games, but to me, it just looks like another bald guy with a mysterious voice. Still, if Season Two actually has real combat, then maybe I’ll care more. I just want to see cars blow up and weird characters with skull masks yelling at each other. If I wanted deep storytelling, I’d watch something else. Let’s hope they go full insane this time. Enough setup. Push the gas.

I watched Season One because I was bored, but I was surprised how much I liked it. The actors are very good. John Doe is funny and serious at the same time. Quiet is cool. I like her more when she starts talking more. Sweet Tooth is scary but also kind of fun. The show made me laugh but also feel nervous sometimes. I didn’t know anything about the games before, so Calypso is a new name to me. After watching the trailer, I think he is very important. Maybe he is like the boss of the game? I want to watch Season Two because now I understand what is happening. It looks like more action is coming. I hope they show more crazy cars and big fights. I don’t like too much talking, I like the action parts more. But the story is also interesting, so I want to see what John will do next.

I was worried the show wouldn’t go in that direction, but now it looks like they are. That’s what made the games more than just racing and explosions—it was the horror under the surface. Season One was decent, but I kept thinking “Where’s the tournament?” Now that they’re doing it in Season Two, I’m back on board. I hope we see classic cars like Axel, Spectre, and Mr. Grimm. I miss those designs. And if they can give each character a small arc or motivation, that’d be amazing. Sweet Tooth was done well enough. I’d love to see what they do with the others. I hope we get to see a lot more crazy drivers. I want dark backstories, insane car weapons, and brutal fights. This is what I was waiting for. The show took its time, but I get it—they wanted us to care about John and Quiet first. That part’s done. Now bring in the madness. Calypso better be just as twisted as in the games. I want to see wish-granting scenes that mess people up. If they pull this off, this could become something huge. Peacock might finally have its own real genre hit. I’m hyped!
