If you dont like the designs, fair enough. I happen to like them.
2. The theme song, where the hell was the theme song blaring in the trailer letting the audience know what film they were going to see
Did we really need a theme song to let people know what movie this was? I thought it was obvious the minute Blackout transformed and we saw Optimus. Or how about the title.. "Transformers". We dont need a childrens TV show theme song (no matter how bad ass I think it is) blaring on a movie trailer to get a message across. Bay specifically stated he didnt want people to think this was just a "cartoon" or a "toy commercial". Blaring that theme song would have gotten the majority of audiences not taking the movie seriously.
That's what I think.
None of these goddamn apologists think do they?
I really hate that word. Who the hell is apologizing? I'm going to start calling you a TF Apologist. "doesnt make sense", you say? Calling me one doesnt make sense either since Im doing nothing but saying I love this movie and while I've attempted to defend it's concept, I've never "apologized" for it. Associating fans of a movie or a PR season as an "apologist" is really annoying.
Have you EVER read one of the Marvel comics? Or Furman's recent work "Inflitration",
Havent read any of the comics. However I've been getting interested in reading them. I'm in a "Transformers" mood lately, so I've been reading up on the comics. I was thinking about buying Infiltration and Stormbringer. Im hearing mixed reviews. About the older marvel comics, I wouldnt mind checking them out but I just feel as though they might be hard to track down and its not worth the effort.
Feel free to recommend any comics to me.
You like stuff that does'nt make you think.
I love movies and stories of all kinds, but we all have our tastes. And for this particular movie, I've decided that this is the kind of movie I want. Robots blowing **** up. I love "stuff that makes you think" but that doesnt mean I want that from everything and it doesnt mean I cant -also- enjoy mindless action movies. Sometimes I want fucking variety, is that so wrong?
TF for the most part has always made you think
Maybe in the comics? But all I've seen are the cartoons and the original movie. I loved them, but I dont quite see how they made you "think". They certainly told nice stories (beast wars had great stories)
therefore you don't really get or know TF one bit and can't call yourself a fan.
Why? Because you dictate who can and cant be a fan? You're just another person like me, you are not an authority on the TF community and cant tell me or anyone here "what" they are.
I like TF, therefore it makes me a Fan. I'm no less of a fan just because I dont enjoy TF the same way you do, or because I have a different perspective on how a live-action movie should be done.
That, right there, is bigotry and arrogance at it's finest. 'Nuff said. Don't label me just because we don't agree on concepts.
=-=-=-=-=-=
Further more, TF has had so many great stories throughout it's run. You are ranting off under some assumption that I want -all- of TF to conform to one single concept. I don't. I enjoy G1, I enjoy Beast Wars. I fucking hate the Animes but they have their good points. I loved the animated Movie.
I get what you mean by War Stories, that's one of the concepts I love about TFs. It's a bad ass civil war of epic proportions
(which is also why I dont like the animes. They feel less and less like a war and just a bunch of fucking idiots powering up with the current-item-of-the-season to fire of a powerful laser blastpewpew)
But that
does not mean that I -have- to want those same stories and concepts for a Live-Action movie. And just because I want this movie to have giant robots blowing **** up
does not mean I expect nothing more from any incarnation of TF in other media forms.
I like variety, and while you might be so tirelessly upset and crying yourself to sleep because Bay didnt do the movie how you invisioned, I enjoy this refreshing take on the story. It's a different way of telling the TF story and it's not just an over-glorified two hour live-action version of the cartoon.
I'm not trying to condescend to the Cartoons or Comics. They were fantastic in their own respects. But as a live action movie, I'm the guy that supports the "realism" approach. I like the idea that the movie is trying to impose a sense of awe about this movie. That's not just about "characters", but about "how would this work if it really happened". It's different. And I may go into that theater and HATE IT. I just might. I'm known for changing my mind drastically. There have been movies I wanted to hate and ended up loving or shows that I thought I would love and just downright hated.
But there's nothing wrong with just wanting a good popcorn action flick. I think robots transforming, firing lasers (pewpew), and smashing **** up on highways is fucking awesome. You praise the TF storyline and how they are "brooding" and really great. I have no doubt those stories are great. So why dont you go re-read those stories? Why dont you go re-watch that bad ass cartoon or animated-movie? Why must the Live-Action conform to these same ideas like a fucking broken record?
Why is this movie horrible just because it didnt live up to your expectations? But whatever. You can say "you dont know what entertainment is" or "you are easy to please", but at least I'm
happy. My happiness is more important than your deluded perception of "true fan"ism.
Let this movie do it's own thing, that's my point. You dont have to like what this movie is doing just like you dont have to enjoy every TF cartoon or every TF comic! Some you will like and some you will hate. But that doesnt make
you any less of a TF fan just because you didnt like a specific TF season or comic.
