NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

Yeah... San Antonio... boring... yadda... yadda.

Every year.

I'm not a San Antonio fan (not a person who keeps up with trades, trainings, etc.), but the only team in the past decade I found more fascinating than them to watch was the 2004-ish Detroit Pistons. Boring, they all say. But great basketball.

True, I am a Houston fan but I have nothing but respect for how San Antonio has done it for all these years. They were just middling in the 90s but Duncan and Pops kicked in the door and refused to leave the playoffs area. Now they are stepping back into the Finals like a former WWE champion going for a rematch.

Exactly, I wholeheartedly agree. This is actually my first year, not watching any NBA matches until the playoffs. Even during the playoffs I'm still on and off. I realized during pre-season that I really disliked how Basketball is played nowadays. Even though I'm the same age as these rookies/2nd years..I still notice that they lack the fundamentals more and more.

Which is why even though I'm not a San Antonio fan, I have tremendous respect for them. They play great basketball. They may not be throwing alley's left and right but they continue to make the smart play. Anyone notice how they never suck? lol I can't remember the last time they didn't make it to the playoffs.

I don't think I was even born when this happened, but the year the Spurs truly sucked was when The Admiral wasn't able to play for them..and it allowed them to snap up Timmy D.

As of late, when the Spurs sucked, it usually meant they got knocked out of the Second Round or even the Conference finals. XD

This is why I really want to see that Spurs/Heat matchup (that is, if the Heat beat the Pacers).

LeBron is a freakin' force of nature that I almost find it impossible to believe that San Antonio can keep their Finals record clean against them. However, at least it'll be interesting to see what Pop pulls out of his sleeve, even if it doesn't work. Should at least be give a lesson for the future of basketball.

I think a Heat/Spurs match up will do a lot to help train up the younger guys and getting them experience in big games. This is going to be the first time a lot of the newer players are even in the finals, so that alone should be worth a lot. Of course I'm still totally rooting for the Spurs - it's my home team and I'm genuinely a fan of their playing style. They may not be as in your face as a lot of the bigger teams out there, but they can sneak up on you and take away the game in an instant. (though they do like to drop the ball in crucial moments as well)

Basically hoping that their finals record stays clean. Even if they're not in the finals every other year, it's great for the franchise to keep that winning finals record. And it'd be great for Timmy to get a fifth ring, it feels like he's in the position David Robinson was in back in 2003. Well, he pretty much is, he's about the same age as when Robinson retired and whereas getting him that second ring was that team's driving force, getting Tim a fifth is this generation's.

Looks like a lot of you guys are on the Spurs' side for the upcoming Finals match. That's cool. I'm not though because I never liked the Spurs and it's not just about the "boring" way how they play. It's because a lot of players that I don't like used to play for them as well. Guys like Robert Horry (who was also a Kings-killer) and Bruce Bowen. Anyways, they pretty much dominated this whole post-season so far so they deserve to go to the Finals. I just think I will root against them because I want to see them not be undefeated in the Finals. Hey, the 49ers lost in the Super Bowl earlier this year so they are no longer undefeated too. Lol.

Lebron James fouled out in a Playoff game for once in his life and the Heat could not stop Roy Hibbert and the Pacers in Game 4. The Pacers whole starting lineup showed up for this game so they deserved the win. I just wonder if something is really wrong with Dwayne Wade. He's just not playing like a superstar anymore. Now that the series is even, this series is going to be fun to watch to see who will come out the winner.

Regardless of who emerges from the east, it's gonna be Old Faithful (At least in the cases of Pop, Duncan, and Ginobili) vs. the Young Guns (LeBron et al if Miami; Paul George and company if Indiana).

Miami was down after the first half of Game 5 but erupted in the 3rd quarter with huge plays from everyone involved. Udonis Haslem came through with clutch shots with his ability to hit outside jumpers. The Pacers starting backcourt disappeared in this game as Hill and Stephenson combined for 5 points. They are going to need to do well if they want to even up the series in the next game. It will be cool if the Pacers tie it up so we can have a full 7 games but I'm sure Lebron and company will do their best to avoid that form happening.

The Kings have hired another former Golden State Warrior coach to be their Head Coach and this time, his name is Mike Malone. I don't know how well he will do but I hope he doesn't make stupid rotation decisions like Keith Smart. I don't even know if he's an offensive-minded Coach or defensive.
