NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

I'm personally hoping that the Griz make it to the NBA Finals. Spurs and Heat have been there...Griz haven't.

Speaking as someone who doesn't like LeBron, Spurs-Heat would actually be interesting IMHO.

The last time LeBron was in the finals against the Spurs he was utterly schooled, and a Spurs-Heat Finals should showcase his growth/non-growth as a player.

Don't really care for the Western Conference Finals. The Spurs have proven that they are going to win this series. The Grizzlies made a great comeback in Game 2 but I don't know why they trusted Bayless to attempt the last shots. I think the Grizzlies will win a game or two coming up but it's still going to the Spurs.

The NBA Draft Lottery happened and what do you know, the Cleveland Cavaliers got the first pick again. They just got Kyrie Irving two years ago. This is bs! How does the Bobcats never get the first pick? They need it! The Kings got lucky #7 so that's good.

Miami/Indiana is gonna be a slobberknocker, that's for sure.

Game 1, and Indiana gave Miami all that it could handle and more. Though...in the closing seconds of the Game, a couple of moves by Indy actually helped Miami clinch Game 1.

Frank Vogel should've re-inserted Roy Hibbert with 2.2 seconds left in the clock to at least discourage LeBron from trying to score with a layup/dunk. Dunno why he was worried about Bosh hitting the 3...the layup is still the highest percentage shot, and Miami had a couple of guys (One named LeBron, the others not named LeBron) who could totally drive in and do that.

Secondly, while his defensive effort on LeBron was commendable, I think Paul George became a bit too overeager on the final play. Dunno if he was trying to foul or steal, but he had no business bodying up LeBron on the right, which Allowed LeBron to drive to the left for an easy layup. George should've fronted LeBron and reacted accordingly.

But the loss is mostly on Frank Vogel, IMHO. A tactical error on his part.

I was so hurt for the Pacers last night, it was a really good game and there were so many signs showing that it was Pacers' game. It was destiny for them to win. Miami may have came out on top, but it wasn't their destiny.

Like Gatack said, Paul was overzealous. You never glue your man at the 3 point line. Leaving space gives you balance, sight, and agility. Unfortunately he was like white on rice and Lebron flashed right by him. That's CYO 101 right there.

It's only going to get harder now, if they won this game their confidence would have led to consistency.

Sure they may have lost the game, but if you're Frank Vogel, you tell your boys that there's much positives to be taken away from this game as well. I'm sure Indy will watch tape and practice some more.

But I would agree with you, Kivat. It's gonna get harder from here on, especially since Miami is such a deep and talented team...no guarantee that you can force one of the big three (it was Wade tonight) to foul out and weaken their force.

Exactly, I hope Frank stayed mostly optimistic after the game and didn't scold them, because from the clutch three, to the clutch free throws , to overtime I knew that even if they did lose they showed that they have the capability of an upset.

It just has to be brought every night. There's no guarantee they can foul out anyone of the big three, but they can get them to foul enough and acquire that bench time. lol

These first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals have been exciting to watch. Much more than what we are seeing in the Western Conference Finals. Anyways, I knew Indiana was going to give Miami problems in this series. I don't know why I kept seeing other people predict Miami in 5 games or something. Indiana gave them trouble during the regular season. Bosh is much smaller than Hibbert so Hibbert can have his way against him. Miami is going to have a big problem trying to fix this issue in the series. Huge posterized dunk by Paul George to the Birdman as well. Stephen Curry became a big name in the 2nd round of the Playoffs, I think Paul George will become a big name in these Conference Finals. He's making all the Fresno State Bulldogs proud right now. Dwayne Wade has done a great disappearing act so far. He's going to need to step up if they want to win.

What a boring Western Conference Finals. I could careless for it and I think Memphis has proven themselves to be one of the worst teams to ever get to a Conference Finals series. Yes, there were two Overtime games but what's the point of extending the games into extra sessions if you're not gonna pull off the win? I wrote a lengthy post on the previous page about why I hated seeing Russell Westbrook get injured during these Playoffs. That injury caused a ripple effect in the Western Playoffs and it sucks. No, it was because Houston dropped to the 8th seed. This blows. I think I want San Antonio to lose in the Finals.

Yeah... San Antonio... boring... yadda... yadda.

Every year.

I'm not a San Antonio fan (not a person who keeps up with trades, trainings, etc.), but the only team in the past decade I found more fascinating than them to watch was the 2004-ish Detroit Pistons. Boring, they all say. But great basketball.
