NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

Chrono the Lakers have to suck to be able to fully utilize draft picks. They're always contenders so they get the bottom of the barrel.

LOL, yo if you ever want to get me to laugh on command, just mention Smush and Kwame. Especially Kwame.

Lol...Ok then. I will keep that in mind for future references. I'm sure if the Kings get a competitive team again, I won't be complaining. But right now, too many GMs are trying to form their own super teams and it will most likely happen to the big markets. It's still not really fair and gives fans the thoughts that they will never have a successful team in their hand due to players asking to be traded (ala Melo, D12, Chris Paul, etc.). They will always have to rebuild and I feel sorry for Magic fans right now. They had Shaq and he bolted to LA to win championships. Now, D12 does the same. You're supposed to make your own path Dwight. I wouldn't be surprised if Orlando fans boo him whenever he goes back there.

Sometimes, I wonder if David Stern rigs the NBA.

A month ago, the NBA schedule comes out and surprisingly Orlando ends up with THREE national TV games. The lowest amount in the Dwight Era.

Those three games are: Warriors at Magic on ESPN, Magic at Pistons on ESPN AND Lakers AT Magic on ESPN.

Now, Howard is a Laker. So, that LA/Orlando game doesn't look so odd now doesn't it?

I love the basketball...but the NBA is probably the worst league in professional sports

Seriously, there are 30 teams and only 3 or 4 of them are title contenders (Heat, Lakers, OKC and maybe Chicago if they're healthy). What's the point of the other 26 teams? It's basically impossible for small market teams to compete in this league

Exactly! Thank you!

Well that's what I've been trying to say since fricken the summer of 2010!!!!! No one seems to want to back me up because apparently, everyone likes the big market teams. Or there's nothing but Lakers fans here (and Knicks). So if you're a Kings fan, Bucks fan, Bobcats fan, Raptors fan, or the other teams that are constantly in the lottery, there's no luck. We will always be watching a team not be able to compete or watch them struggle to get the #8th seed. It's so lame. The competitive balance in the league right now is a joke. I can't believe how stacked the Lakers lineup is now. It ain't even cool. I'm gonna laugh when they have to build a team through their own legit draft picks.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels this way. The NBA isn't about competitiveness or even skill anymore. It's about which team can get the most all-stars

The problem is that the All-stars and Elite players want to Go to the Lakers or the Knicks, because they can rub elbows with all the famous people, and those two places are hip and cool.

Small Market teams like Charlotte Bobcats and Milwaukee Bucks aren't really party cities, so people who are famous for being famous (as well as people who are famous because they did something awesome) aren't likely to be seen there; rather, they're known for their athletics. Especially in Charlotte's case, it is best known for their collegiate team -- The UNC Tar Heels.

The biggest markets in the NBA are: NY, LA, Miami and Chicago.

The biggest star attractions in the NBA: NY, LA, Miami.

The Top title contenders via vegas predictions: LA Lakers, Miami Heat, OKC Thunder, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, NY Knicks.

OKC is the smallest market next to the Spurs another championship team. Then, Orlando, Denver have been the most consistent playoff teams in this decade.

So, the last 10 years the small teams competing in the Finals have been San Antonio (twice), New Jersey (twice), Indiana, Philadelphia, Detroit (twice), Cleveland, Boston (twice), Orlando and now Oklahoma City.

The only large markets to compete in the NBA finals in the last 10 years: LA Lakers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks.

Most consistent playoff teams in the last 10 years that are small markets: Denver, San Antonio, Utah, Orlando, Cleveland, Phoenix, Boston.

The last two seasons of small market playoff contending teams:
OKC Thunder, San Antonio, Memphis, Indiana, Boston

There is tons of teams that are in small markets that do not attract stars but are still competitive and can win in this league. The entire last 10 years have been all small market driven.

Next season's playoff teams in large markets: LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks (barely), NY Knicks, Brooklyn (NY) Nets, Chicago Bulls (barley) which totals 7 teams

The Lakers, Heat, Knicks and Clippers are the only teams with a legit shot at a conference finals appearance as big market teams this season.

Next season's playoff teams in small markets: OKC Thunder, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Philadelphia Sixers, Minnesota Timberwolves (barring no injuries) which totals 7 teams.

San Antionio, Indiana, Boston, OKC are the only teams that have a legit shot at a Conference Finals appearance this season.

Stars wanting to choose larger market teams don't mean It's due to media and glamor. Some of these organizations are poorly run. LA, NY, Miami, Chicago have been the only teams to put together championship teams historically compared to teams like Orlando, Cleveland, Indiana, Toronto who fail at it historically and in the present day.

Boston, San Antonio, OKC have been the only teams who put together a championship roster properly in a non-glamor city. In fact, Dallas and Miami weren't considered big markets until they put together championship teams with star power.

I don't believe the NBA is the worst but they do have flaws as well as the NFL and MLB.
