Actually guys, now that he signed with the Rockets instead of the Knicks...........the contract is actually set back to the typical average amount of around $8.5M per year for 3 years.
The reason is ballooned to $14.5M on the Knicks' side is b/c the Knicks were protected under the "Arenas Rule" that allowed the Knicks to backload any high contract offers for their restricted free agents by their 3rd year........while the Knicks were financially safe for the first 2 years of the contract by $5M per year.
So if the Knicks had matched, Lin would've had a $5M, $5M, $14.5M contract
Under the Rockets, Lin has a $8M, $8M, $8.5M contract.
