Basically I'm looking for any good rock or hip-hop singers/bands that wouldn't be too hard to find. I've been getting kinda tired from most of what's in the mainstream and a lot of the lesser knowns are hard to find.

Uhm. No thanks.

Anyways, if you really wanna check out some hip-hop, you should try Dabo. He's on the Aquarius album I uploaded a month or so ago, and you can check that out. I also suggest Nitro Microphone Underground, and Nujabes is the greatest producer ever (teams up with kick-ass English rappers).

For J-Rock, I also suggest V-Kei Indie. It's very... different from the normal Mainstream. Not saying it's good. Just not Mainstream.

K-Rock, Theres also Teo-Saiji(I prolly just messed up his name right there), he was one of the more popular Rock stars in Korea(still around I think, but not active?) but it's more Pop/Rock style. With hints of Hip-Hop as Korea cant get enough of it -.-...

Rock - www.Purevolume.com Cross your fingers and hope you find a good one. LOTS of indie bands here, as this is basically one of the bigger indie stuffs. Theres also other indie sites but i dun remember them now.

Yeah ... Haha .. not all of them are good tho, to be honest ... the vocalists for most indie V-kei bands needs more vocal lessons IMO ... ... anyway, some 'senior' indie bands like D (my fav :anime: ), DuelJewel, etc. do rocks ...

PS: luv Dir en grey too, their latest single rocks ... much better than Clever Sleazoid i guess :anime: ...

Agreed with ^^^^^^

Indie V-Kei bands in japan pretty much stink with vocals. An'Caf'e for example. Decent music, but the vocalist makes me wanna kill myself.

Seriously.

Dir en Grey is the way to go for New Jrock (if you havnt got into it already).
They have a VERY diverse collection ranging from their indie days to their now mainstream style.
Though Mainstream, they still have a link to their FRESH sound. Their latest song, Ryoujoku no Ame(Rain of Rape) is a good example of their new sound their working for, add that to Clever Sleazoid, and it gets really political and horror movie sounding. For a more INDIE sound, check out their GAUZE Album

-Btw
The RENT(Movie) Soundtrack is all pretty much awesome. The Official Musical Album wasn't as good.
If you can get/find it, so is the Hairspray album. However the live-musical version I saw was awesome cus it had one of the American Idol contestants as Penny(for those who saw it) and it was major asskicking awesome. I hope that the Movie version will use her. I don't remember her name..

Did you mean Seotaiji? or is this someone else? IS he still around? The last thing I saw from them was a weird ultraman vid to a song title Ultramania.

As for Krock - we talking heavy? alternative? For alternative: there are a couple - Buzz, Witches, Bulldog Mansion - I find them all pretty good.
For heavy(ier) - The TRAX, Sanulrim
Epik: ranges from heavy to alternative with elements of hiphop sounds.

These bands sometimes incorporate elements of hiphop in their music, but the really hiphop bands are the main Gayo (kpop bands) such as DBSK, Shinhwa. I don't know any newschool kpop girl bands; I stuck mostly with old school - you could try Boa or KillGun. Oh yeah, TSZX is a really good girl kpop band.

I think it's Seotaiji is seperated, Seo and Taiji. I THINK. My parents knew him and said he was one of the best rockstars of his time, but I know he's still alive since he wasn't that old. :P

As for The TRAX. -.-... Now they are TAX, seeing as how Rose Left.
It's sucha lame band... They could really of done better if they wernt so lame.
Anyone know what TRAX Stands for?
Typhoon Rose Attack on Xmas.
Each word(cept on) being a stage name for the band members. That's so lame.
Leaving it at The Trax would of been just fine.. but acronyming it something lame just.. bleh. But I admit, their stuff isn't bad, just... not good? It's got the right influences for the kind of band it is, a VK K-Rock band, but I'm not a fan of Korean HipHop music and it's sub genres.

Yoo Sung Jun was pretty sweet back when I was like 7... But really K-pop is overrated. It's all the same thing. You can tell its Korean Pop when the song starts off with the sparkling stars noise. :/

Speaking of Korean Music, the best stuff from Korea that isn't overrated, is all the stuff from the 70's-80's. It's sound is close to The Music styles of Detective Conan, With slow singing and trumpets and soft guitars. It's really nice and different from the stuff nowadays in Korea. I don't know too many band names since I get my hookup via my mom's car cd selection.

A good band to check out if you wanna see where the 70-80's influence went would be NELL. They are basically a Korean Radiohead, but a little less intense. Which is really soft basically. Good stuff tho.

If you get interested in The TRAX and Dir en Grey style stuff, there's always Gazette. They sound alot like Dir en Grey now, but with their own style of cheeriness?

For a more HipHop style or rock, ORANGE RANGE is the way to go.
I love them.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation is pretty easy listening as it's catchy and poppy but not overdone. But they are Mainstream I guess. :/
