There already was one in Japan. And the way that many characters and zombies died it bordered on comedy.

Well, I can say that certain video games may need a film adaptation depending on how well the executive producers, writers or other crew members have actual experience to the franchise and series itself. But there are other video games series that are extremely difficult to adapt based on several reasons. For example, Soul Calibur has too many storylines which is very hard to put together into a film. And Tekken might follow after, but it's just that it should be more focusing on re-introducing the storyline of the tournament and the Kazuma family as well. But other videos games such as God of War, Kill Zone, etc. are not very suitable for children at all and is only meant for adults to enjoy.

Now in my opinion, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter could use a re-write and a reboot because they are the most easiest franchise to work on. So, we'll have to wait and see.

As for Final Fantasy, not even worth it because of the multiple spin-offs and other chapters that are their own stories. Now maybe FFVII, okay...that might work well.
