Most Badass Red Ranger in Super Sentai

At times, I think that the actor who played as Black Condor should've been Red Hawk, & the actor who played as Red Hawk should've played as Black Condor.

Well, I disagree with that. Tanaka would have been worse as Condor than he was Hawk! :laugh: Wakamatsu did a great job as Condor, and is one of those cases of casting where it's hard to imagine another actor in the role.

I think it would have been awesome if Hiroshi Watari played Ryu/Hawk -- I think he could have pulled it off, and he needed to be in a Sentai, man!

So when you talk about most badass Reds, you need to define what qualities you consider badass. For some posters it's clearly presence or ability to tank through a serious beating, which are eminently respectable metrics. That's not where my mind goes first, though.

For me, I would say it lies in the question, "If you as a hypothetical bad guy got into a fight with this Red, how badly would you be fucked up before your inevitable defeat?" I mean not just beaten, but thoroughly owned, wrecked, and ruined so badly that you're praying for death before it comes.

I mean, let's face it, any Red is going to beat the bad guy and save the day. That's what it means to be a Red. But which Red is such a badass that he wouldn't just win, but absolutely **** your **** up? For me, the answer is clear: Ryuuranger. This guy has a proven ability to not just beat, but seriously **** up bad guys even before he even transforms.

And then he gets more powerful!! He flies around on a robot dragon and spews fire and gets a bunch of extra weapons! He gets a gun that shoots lasers on top of knowing mega-sweet kung fu. Holy ****, I would never mess with this guy if I was a rubber suit monster. I would go rogue and fight Gorma first, they're actually less likely to completely wreck my ****.

He is not only powerful, but an unstoppable kungfu-fighting, laser-shooting machine, plus he has an unbreakable will as well. He's one of the main reasons why Dairanger is such an enjoyable series.

While there's a lot of series out there with mechs getting trashed and a victory pulled out at the last second, Dairanger is the only one where the red ranger goes toe-to-toe against the main villain, alone, unarmored and armed with only a knife and kung-fu.

I'm still in the process of watching Dairanger (up to ep 14 right now), and although I didn't put Ryuuranger on my list I think I'll definitely do it now. He is not only powerful, but an unstoppable kungfu-fighting, laser-shooting machine, plus he has an unbreakable will as well. He's one of the main reasons why Dairanger is such an enjoyable series.

ITA. I'm glad that Toei brought the actor for Ryo back in the 199 Hero Battle movie & for episode 33 of Gokaiger. :thumbs:

Yep. Ryo/Ryuuranger is just one of the only few Reds to actually kill the "big bad" main villain all by himself. :buttrock: :castlerock:

Riki Honoo/Red Turbo was the other in which he defeated Emperor Lagorn before he grew bigger (though he was in his Red Turbo suit). :buttrock: :castlerock:

His episodes with Demon-Fist Master Jin (DaiRanger eps 26-28, 35, 39, 47-48) would be my exhibit A on that.

Also, he surfs the sky on the head of a fuckin' fire breathing dragon that turns into a kung-fu super-robot. How badass is that?

MattComix just said it all. However, I'm still gonna tie it up with Marvelous and Ryo. Gotta love the man with the jacket.

Marvelous stabbed his own feet to prevent Basco escaping, walks into a police station when he's a pirate. Yup he got a better mark here.

Although Shiba Takeru, Ryo of RyuuRanger, Ban of Dekaranger, and Tatsuya of Timeranger is a good choice too. Is TimeFire counts as a Red Ranger too?

You think he's impressive now, wait until you see the Jin arc. Man, that was just...seriously, episode 28 is just about Ryou being Better (than everything).

Running a close second is Captain Marvelous, who apparently doesn't think it's enough to fight with his team and curbstomp you in battle...he's also going to mock you over the fact that he murdered your son.

Somewhere after that is Takeru Shiba, who rarely ever lost and a lot of the time kinda did the work of the whole team on his own.

Is TimeFire counts as a Red Ranger too?

No more than Kabuto Raiger does, I think. While their concept in-series was "it's like there's another Red, only he's an asshole!!"the marketing for the character placed him very solidly as a sixth ranger.
