Monday Night Raw - Talkback

Missed the first hour of Raw due to watching "24" instead. I saw Christian and Flair wrestling each other during a commercial. Never before was I so pissed off that couldn't hold a match off until after 9pm.

The pillow fight was meh to me. Christy's bubblebutt notwithstanding. But heaven help me, I thought the Big Vis macking on Lillian Garcia was great. The segment ran a little long but I'm shocked that ole' Mabel is pulling this off. And WTF? Big Vis is pulling out the Barry White. I couldn't say he was a good singer but I have to say he wasn't that bad either.

Looks like Jericho is turning heel again.

I didn't care much for the Hurricane/Rosey vs. Maven/Dean tag match. It's the same thing I've seen on Heat countless times before. Stacy Keibler's superhero outfit was cute though.

I kept expecting Randy Orton to RKO Vince and I had to keep reminding myself that both men are legit injured so it ain't gonna happen. *sigh* At least we finally got some more information regarding the draft. Though Orton was being stupid if he thought being injured made him exempt from the draft. Remember Edge was drafted to Raw last time around and he was still on the injured reserve at the time. Speaking of that piece of ****.

I hated the main event. I've got nothing against Kane but Edge is a complete turn-off for me at this point. I think everyone saw the Lita heelturn coming a mile away. But knowing it was going to happen didn't make kiss at the end any less disgusting. To hell with them both.

Well, it's not like she wasn't forced to do the heel turn; I would have to blame Matt Hardy for it, unfortunately. Instead of keeping something that should have been done in private on his own time, he instead decided to make it a publicity stunt by posting it in the one place EVERYONE will see it...the internet. Because of that, he lost his job and now everyone's labeling Lita as a whore and Edge as a mark-ass buster[/early 90s slang].

And the worst part is...Edge doesn't even care. He's seeing this as a great way to gain heel heat. He's basically saying "Hey, thanks for the idea, Matt; we're going to go with this for a while. Now I'm going to go tell Vince to fire you because I don't want you ending my career." (OK, so it didn't go like that, but you guys know what I'm getting at.)

Vince hates it when backstage politics become public knowledge, especially on the internet, so this was seen as bad news in his eyes. He had to fire Matt because he aired dirty laundry out in public.

I'm going to leave it at this. You are free to discuss amongst yourselves.

I think Edge w/ Lita is awesome.

ask me 8 years ago and I would never guessed Edge & Christian to be main eventing RAW events.

One of 'em needs to go to SD.

I don't see what would make you say that; I'm more convinced that he's gonna drop out of wrestling entirely in favor of his music career.

I wouldn't be surprised if that really did happen. Eventually.

But he was in character when he went on about how losing a little wrestling match was no big deal with all the other stuff he's got going on. There's no way in hell Vince would allow Jericho to say that on Raw if it wasn't a wrestling angle. Because it's basically Chris Jericho saying that WWE isn't important. Not the message Vince McMahon wants broadcasted on one his shows unless the guy saying it is supposed to be portrayed as being wrong.

If it was a shoot about his feelings in the business, we would have read reports or at least rumors about Chris Jericho getting a lot of heat with Vince McMahon and WWE management by now.

So it seems to me, it's the start of an angle where Jericho starts acting as if wrestling is beneath him because he's a "huge rockstar" with Fozzy. That's material for a egotistical heel character. Most likely Shelton Benjamin and others will go after Jericho for two reasons. Some guys will object to Jericho's attitude and feel that if he doesn't really care about the business anymore, he should get the hell out of it so a "real superstar" can take his spot. Others, possibly someone like Benoit will want a match with Jericho in hopes of restoring their old friend's passion for the business.

I'll concede that it would have been best if Matt kept this on the DL. But I still have to side with him on this whole mess.

Normally I would feel that the real life people behind the characters shouldn't reflect my feelings for their on-camera personas. But I've disliked both Edge and Lita long before their adultery became public.

I've never been fan of Edge, ever. I didn't always dislike him but I was unimpressed with him from day one. I still remember his debut match in the WWE was ended abruptly without a finish because he hurt the other guy with a fucked-up plancha. I still remember thinking he looked like a complete dork in the Brood because he would always have a huge Joker grin on his face even when he just standing there listening to Gangrel talk. I still remember not giving a crap about his Wrestlemania match with Booker T. because it was over a friggin' shampoo commercial.

His in-ring performances are okay in that he's at least capable of keeping up with guys like HBK, Benoit and Angle. But his character has always been bland to me. Face or heel. The only times I found him appealing was during the Edge & Christian run and the Team ECK stuff. But even then I always found it a bit annoying that even though Christian was carrying the team, Edge got most of the fanfare from fans and management alike, simply because he was bigger and better looking than Christian.

It wasn't until last year that I really started to dislike Edge rather than simply not care about him. I refused to take his new Stone Cold wannabe character seriously but I felt vindicated because for once the average fan wasn't buying it either. Forcing them to turn Edge heel, last fall. I did start to find his character interesting at this point with his legitimate claims of never getting a title shot but then again I found Gene Snitsky interesting at that time as well, so that's not really saying much.

For the most part, I've always found Edge to be boring, dull and overrated. The stuff with Matt and Lita just changed my feelings from "I would prefer to watch someone else instead of Edge." to "I really don't want to watch this guy at all anymore."

Lita on the otherhand. I did like at one time. I thought she was okay as Miss Congeniality, teaming up with "Dastardly" Danning Doring and "The Amish Warrior" Roadkill in ECW. I was impressed with her high-flying moves in the WWF when she was the valet for Essa Rios. And I was mad into Team Extreme as a whole. Lita winning the Women's Championship from Stephanie McMahon was one of my favorite moments for a few years.

It wasn't until she came back from the injury she got during filming an episode of "Dark Angel" that I became dissatisfied with her. Because by the time she returned she was well behind the other Divas in terms of wrestling skills.

Thanks to Fit Finlay's efforts the women's division was becoming quite watchable. Trish Stratus was improving every week. Molly Holly, Jazz, Ivory, Victoria and others were putting together decent women's matches regularly.

Now granted all the improvements happened while Lita was injured so it was only reasonable to expect her to lag behind for awhile. Unfortunately, her behavior to wrestling followed Jeff Hardy's example instead of Matt's. She became very lazy in the ring and her half-assing was blatantly obvious. I didn't expect to continue doing highflying manuevers or anything like that since she had the bad neck. Yet here was someone like Gail Kim who couldn't pull off the high risk moves very well so she changed her style to a more mat based one with a variety of unorthodox submission holds to make up for it.

Yet Lita didn't do anything all to make up for her weaknesses. She just went for a brawling style but every move she did was half-hearted and broke the suspension of disbelief required for worked matches. And what bugged me was that she was able to get away with it because management plays favorites and Lita is a big name in the WWE whether she still deserved to be or not.

So I stopped caring about Lita too. Finding out she cheated on Matt only changed my opinion from "If she's just going to be some redhead to look at now, I'd rather look at Christy." to "Ugh. Get this lazy skank off my tv screen."

So even without the Matt Factor. The main event on Raw would have still sucked to me. It's just that I would have simply found it boring instead disgusting.

Jericho has publicly stated his unhappiness at the moment in WWE. Jericho's contract with WWE is up in a few months and he's not sure if he's going to re-sign. This accounts for his lack of any real push as WWE creative doesn't feel they should invest too muct time in Superstar who may or may not be with the company much longer. It sucks but what can you do? It seems he's hit the proverbial "glass ceiling" in the company. When HHH doesn't like you, there's only so far you can go.

I think this might all be for Y2J going to Smack Down in the draft. I think he's do alot better over there compare to Raw.
Hmm...Carlito vs. Y2J...

That'd make for an interesting feud; see who has the better "talk-show" segment.

Carlito's Cabana vs. the Highlight Reel...
