Seeing as there's a lack of a central Model Kit thread, AND the imminent release of MG Figurise W, I thought I would start one!
Even though this is HJU, a place centered on Live-Action shows, but likes to dabble in Anime, I'm gonna start off with the Anime first!
Do any of you remember Zoids? Takara-Tomy, also responsible for Transformers and Beyblade (That's another Anime I like!), created these wonderful model kits known as Zoids.
Part Robot, Part Beast, ALL AWESOME!! There's over 200 different types of Zoids model kits, in different varieties as well!
Motorized was the primary draw of the Zoids franchise. It first started with wind-up motors that you would stick ligaments onto, crank it up and watched it walk!
It then evolved to take battery's. Different sizes for different Zoids!
I think the "cool" premise of it was "why have a stoic model kit that just hangs on your shelf, when you can build an animal that COMES TO LIFE AND MOVES!!"
Sadly, I was one of the kids that, while I thought it was cool, I would rather have a poseable figure.
I soooooo wanted to get a model kit of the Liger Zero, but it was the fact that once you built the model, it became a brick that moved only when you flipped a switch.
The Z-Builders(BLOX) came out and I got REALLY interested in Zoids. My first Zoids perchase, and I think my only one until last month, was LeoStriker. It was a wicked cool model kit that could actually switch modes. I loved it so much. I really did!
Anyways, sorry about going on about my experiences with Zoids, but I just felt like telling my back story so that you would all understand my excitement for the latest announcement in the HMM arena, which is a NEW Zoids line, this time created by Kotobukiya, the makers of SRW and Armored Core model kits!
