Some people on /v/ and GameFAQs are making more sense than you right there. For one, she didn't cry other than a 4-8 cut of a flashback to when she was like 6 years old, and he armor disintegrated cause she was getting grabbed. And if you played the older games, you'd know even being grabbed can cause the energy to fall.
Actually, the whole shrieking/weeping thing goes on for about a minute and a half. And nobody has answered why this never happened before now. We've also had previous examples of the armor being grabbed and slammed around much more violently than this and still maintaining its shape perfectly fine so fear and terror are the only logical reasons left as to why it's failing.
Plus a 4-8 cut of a flashback from when she was like 6 years old, minus fighting too recklessly. But then there's the chance that she may of just realized "Holy ****, I've killed this guy who killed my parents, several times over now, why in hell does he keep coming back?" and freaking out.
Again, this raises the question of why this never happened around the third or fourth time or why her reaction is just a total breakdown that leaves her completely helpless until a male comes in to rescue her.
She never had a character in the first place. I see you're mad she's not some sort of kill-joy Terminator and actually a human being with emotions.
See, this is the ultimate fallacy of your argument.
My point is that, if this kind of characterization was given to ANY OTHER NINTENDO CHARACTER, it would be deemed a complete joke and utterly unacceptable. If Link was given this treatment, it would be considered wrong. If Mario was given this treatment, it would be considered EXTREMELY wrong.
The only difference between them and Samus is... well, the reproductive organs they have. So that seems to be the only justification people have for claiming her being "weak" is somehow "humanizing" and not... well, kinda skeevy.
This and the whole running, "I am subservient to Adam's commands even when it needlessly endangers my life" plot line is... yeah. I'm sorry, the subtext for this is just way too loud to ignore unless you're willfully choosing to.
