Megaman Legends 3 announced!! Updated: It's Cancelled

Don't forget the B.S. reasons capcom gave us, such as "not enough support for the game, or not enough people helping to make the game on dev-room."

And to the people who somehow still don't know, people are trying to petition for the game to get brought back from cancellation such as the 100k thing on facebook and the devroom/servbot petition so try to sign up for that if you can, even though it probably won't change anything due to capcom's lack of concern for the fans but any shrivel of hope is good enough for me.

Also don't get your hopes up about capcom making another megaman game, to me it feels like they've been slowly phasing him out after Inafune left. First they get rid of megaman universe, then they get rid of megaman legends 3 and not include any type of megaman in UMVC even though megaman was ranked so high in the voting for additional characters. I wouldn't be surprised if they completely got rid of him at this point... and even if they did make a game, i'm betting it'd be a remake at the very least or another semi pointless sequel such as a megaman 11...
Imagine how awesome it was playing it when it first came out.

It was mostly because of poor 3DS sales. Even if every owner had bought of a copy they still wouldn't have made a profit, or at least not enough of a profit in their minds to warrant going ahead with the project. I know there are people who were waiting for Legends 3 to come out before purchasing a 3DS and that Capcom didn't take them into consideration (due to Capcom seriously underestimating the popularity of the Mega Man franchise, especially in the west), but honestly even if they had, I doubt it would have changed the outcome at all.

It's pretty obvious that Capcom has no clue what to do with the franchise right now. The only two things they are currently working on (that I am aware of) are in new (or at least different than usual, in the case of the comics) territory and are being worked on with other companies, not just Capcom. I think, with the last couple of games not doing as well as they hoped and with Inafune leaving, they are very wary of going through with another big Mega Man project. I am really hoping the comic and the MMO do well in their respective regions, letting Capcom know that, yeah, there is still quite a bit of interest out there for the Blue Bomber.

I'm sure eventually they will make another big Mega Man game, but at this point it's anyone's guess when that will be.

How is this bullshit? There wasn't enough support or staff. It was entirely community driven and 20,000 people isn't enough to support a major game. Capcom doesn't see "Oh I can't wait to play this game" tweets as support. Hardly anyone voted on the Capcom Unity pools for character designs and **** like "Save the Rocket" and we ended up with ****. Capcom's expected turn outs probably was something in the couple hundreds of thousands worldwide, maybe around half a mil, and they didn't even get close. Get your head out of your ass and step out of the salt pool, you're covered in it. The game was heading down a shitty direction in the first place.

Good, does no one remember the time when Capcom pumped out a shitty, rushed Megaman game every couple of months? Surely you do it was only a few years ago. Starforce, Animes, .EXE, Powered Up (Okay I liked that one), Command Mission, you name it.

Right, well first of all, they were b.s. reasons because there still is a decent amount of support for legends 3. Also, we were told that they would make the decision on whether to produce the game on the demo/prototype for the 3ds e-store, and we weren't even given that chance... Plus, we didn't know that they would base the cancellation on how much people contributed to the dev-room, not everyone knew about the dev-room or even could contribute quality work which is what capcom expected many fans to do. Just because there are, say 12 k-40 k people that have liked/signed up for dev-room/the facebook page thing doesn't mean there are that many people supporting it. What I'm saying is, they shouldn't have gaged sales on the amount of people helping in dev-room...

I do agree with you on them pumping random crap out though. They do bring out a lot of repetitive games, such as all the battle network games which although i didn't mind for most of them, got kind of boring after a little while. I don't agree with you though on the game heading down a bad direction, from what i have seen of the game, it looked pretty awesome and it didn't seem rushed. After all, it only got to like 29% before it got cancelled.

Another thing I'd like to call forth is how capcom said this legends 3 dev-room thing was an experiment and how they did it to show us the inner workings of how games are basically made. While we understand that not all games get made in the development process, a game that many people have been waiting for for a decade should not have been chosen as the game for this experiment. A game like this being cancelled can only serve to disappoint and/or anger fans...

Also, I wasn't rude to you so why are you being rude to me? I'm just voicing my opinion, not like we can't talk rationally/cordially without people typing out mean or hurtful things -__-. Although, I may see where you're coming from, people saying stupid things angers me as well, and I may have said stupid things up there but I also feel like I had some logical reasoning behind it so I still stand by it. Not like it matters though, chances are, you'll stand by your argument as well so basically anything I wrote up there is for naught.

This was more of a dream project than anything and it needed all the support it could get, which it didn't. Capcom didn't spell it out for you (its not like they can in the first place), but they did try to make it known this is a community run project, they needed a vocal community to hype it. Street Fighter is run like that and it works swimmingly, MK9 was saved from the piles of **** that is the MK franchise through a vocal community, Hell KoFXIII was barely saved through its community. Theres a stupid sense of self entitlement in many fanbases, Megaman is one of them and that inevitably helped the downfall of Legends 3.

They break some hearts of a few thousand fans, big deal they're going to break some hearts no matter what. Capcom learned with RE5, SSFIV and MvC3, despite being a different department, that you're going to piss off people no matter what you do, so do whats more profitable.

Cry about it. And dust that salt off.

This article sums up what I was telling a friend about Mega Man fans:

http://kotaku.com/5829810/mega-man-fans-capcom-is-reading-your-mail-all-of-it

(It may have something to do with the fact Mega Man fans aren't as numerous as they think!)

But I actually think it's not all that great of a series. I could kill some time on it, but the franchise has never really expanded much to keep that much interest. It's not got the same gripping onto dear life ability as Mario.

Diehard fans are always in less numbers than what actual games sell.
Relying only on diehard fans to carry your product along is not a good marketing strategy. Hello? Do I have to keep going with obvious here?

But I actually think it's not all that great of a series.
It's amazing how some people go out of their way to inform us about it. You don't care? Fine. Move along. It feels like you guys want to take away our right to be vocal about stuff we love.

Don't forget to throw the piracy issue and buying it second hand.

Yet it's alright to take away my right to say I don't think it's a great series? Not care, dislike or hate just to point out. I have plenty of series that I like, but aren't great. Merely stating that it's not as popular as they like to believe.
