I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 2001 was the year the original DVD release came out, which was what I was getting at. You made it sound as if this was the first time this show had ever been released on DVD.

2001 was the year I graduated high school and the series had been off the airwaves for a long time before that. At least until the Family Channel started airing heavily edited versions of the episodes.
