Mass Effect: The Movie discussion: Rape or Awesome?

Other than the difficulty of cramming in every single detail, with the right direction, writers and actors, I'm not sure how this could do that badly. Mass Effect is pretty much in tune with most Sci-Fi "Space Opera" films out there these days (Space politics, marines, alien species, big settings suitable for CGI vista shots, monster-ish alien threat, etc.). At least it would be easier to adapt then other BioWare games like KotOR.

I completely disagree. This has the potential to be fantastic. A lot of video game movies come out less than amazing because some video game concepts don't translate well to the movie screen.

Mass Effect is FULLY structured in a way that is pretty easily translated in to movie and TV, so.... I got high hopes.

- TV, maybe. Mass Effect is an RPG, and RPGs, at least to get the full 'feel' of it, requires a lot more exposition. Either they make this a TV series or a trilogy of movies, or else they try to squeeze too much into 90-120minutes.

I'm not saying it'll be bad outright, but a lot of the original game's feel will have to be cut down for a single-movie-only attempt.
